You didn't read past the first paragraph:mjlol:

Go incognito:lolbron:. Free shyt all day.

The article talks about Google building data centers and offices and negotiating with these communities under a different shell companies. The public wouldn't know until it was official.

If that's not unethical then :yeshrug:

I'm pointing this out because I see a lot of people comparing Google and Amazon in regards to business tactics.
i did read the article.

i never complained about business tactics. all my criticism has been focused on NYC for entering this stupid beauty pageant in the first place. it's one thing for places with nothing going on or with a little something going on and aspirations for more participating, but i expect better from NYC.

I stated this earlier , people aren't doing any research and are regurgitating falsehoods from AoC, Bernie, and other socialist supporters. Not sure when Google became the good guy in all of this.
It was recently announced for 2018 Amazon paid no federal income taxes and got $130 million back from the government in rebates.
Yahoo is now part of Oath

We can discuss if we think that's fair or not but practically speaking when the government created the loopholes, rebates and credits that Amazon took full advantage of do we think the government's intention was for them to pay $0 federal wise? Or are our politicians just not that bright and over extended themselves to assist big business?

Look you would need to research the specific of the rebates, NY gave amazon rebates because they knew amazon would invest heavily in a queens neighborhood that could use a tech overall. And the city does not have the budget with current tax revenues to do it. Imagine if NYC djd have the money, could they do it better than amazon would also be a question. These credits are based on the assumption that companies are investing money the government does not have into the neighborhoods ...

However I agree that at the federal level the tax codes need to be revamped and cleaned up. It's poor form that amazon has paid taxes globally but nothing in the US

In an ideal world, tax subsidies should not have to be a carrot for these companies. But it's the competitive nature of what these jobs mean to these locations. NYC may not seem like it needs Amazon but 25K jobs is 25K jobs.

For the sake of these communities, I hope the politicians who were strongly opposed to HQ2 have development plans that will create similar tax revenue and/or job creation.

That is a generic ass question that can be answered by both sides of the argument:snoop:

What came first, the chicken or the egg ass question?:mjlol:

So you willingly support losing 25k middle class paying jobs just so you can stick it to the rich? Terrible mindset to have.

LOok at Seattle. Most of the people who work for Amazon there are transplants, not natives of Seattle. Amazon promised jobs, but the jobs did not go to them.

And there’s no guarantee of those jobs.

And Amazon fights against Labor standards.

Amazon made $11 billion profit, pays zero federal taxes. Why the fukk should states and cities subsidize that?

Same shid will happen in NYC.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
I'm not saying Amazon is anything like FoxxCon, but after really looking into what these "local" politicians are willing to give up and subsidize these corps that make MEGA revenue, to pay no taxes, fukk AMAZON. 25,000 jobs (or the promise of) has these folks showing their ass and willing to risk it all, when in reality, they are giving up ALL the leverage and counting money that isn't there yet. All of the pressure should be on Amazon to make a truly concrete conscience effort to make MAJOR improvements to the area, which, looking into the offer, Amazon would pretty much be the biggest entity there. In turn they would be "local government". Amazon should be ashamed of themselves, as they never wanted the community to prosper, just themselves. They feel absolutely no responsibility for any negative things that happen as a result of them swinging their big dikk around *pause*. Hats off to the activists, if Amazon is too cowardly to address the concerns of the people that actually live in the area, an area they are about to practically "own", fukk the lot of em'.

My two cents. 25k jobs is 25k jobs. But would all of those jobs have gone to residents in NYC? Out of those 25k jobs, how many of them would have paid enough to support living in NYC? Out of those 25k jobs, how many of them would choose to cross the Hudson on a PATH or NJTransit bus or train everyday, and live in New Jersey? That's why I don't agree with floating the tax carrot in front of a company like Amazon to entice them to come to an area like NYC.
