My socialist brethren what will you spend the money you don't have on?
where have i ever said i was a socialist? i just don't believe in giving corporations hand outs with these nonsense job creation schemes. same way i don't believe in giving sports team owners publicly funded stadiums. a city like new york should never be prostrating themselves for any company. they promised 25k jobs in a couple decades? how much you want to bet they have at least 15k employees in NYC over the next decade? so all of this was about a central location (1/2 of HQ2) that you can point to as the gleaming amazon sector? FOH.

So you willingly support losing 25k middle class paying jobs just so you can stick it to the rich? Terrible mindset to have.
Yes, 25K jobs over 10 plus years is nothing especially if no one is allowed to unionized and people who are currently there will be priced out of their neighborhoods.

"I can't afford my apartment anymore but I'm happy 25,000 people got jobs in the city." <- said no one ever .lol

This is exactly what's going to happen. Amazon has 5,000 employees in NYC already and noted in their withdrawal announcement that they will continue to expand on the teams here.

They'll probably end up quietly buying more office space in the Flatiron District somewhere at some point in the near future

Unfortunately, I ran out of free reads. So I can't address your rebuttal. But does that article talk about Google in NYC specifically?
no, it's some town in texas near dallas (midlothian) that has to bribe a corporation to bring some jobs to their patch of america. of all the corporate incentives that are offered i object the least to places like this doing it because they don't have anything going on and that's the only way a corporation is going to give them a second look unless by some miracle it was founded there.

It was recently announced for 2018 Amazon paid no federal income taxes and got $130 million back from the government in rebates.
Yahoo is now part of Oath

We can discuss if we think that's fair or not but practically speaking when the government created the loopholes, rebates and credits that Amazon took full advantage of do we think the government's intention was for them to pay $0 federal wise? Or are our politicians just not that bright and over extended themselves to assist big business?

You didn't read past the first paragraph:mjlol:
Officials in eight of the cities signed nondisclosure agreements, or NDAs, in their real estate dealings with Google, according to the documents. The documents also show that the search giant used shell companies to negotiate to build data centers in five of the six localities with data centers that responded to the records requests, including Midlothian; Berkeley County, S.C.; Council Bluffs, Iowa; Lenoir, N.C.; and Clarksville, Tenn. Google’s identity was eventually revealed, but often so late in the process that it precluded public debate.

Go incognito:lolbron:. Free shyt all day.

The article talks about Google building data centers and offices and negotiating with these communities under a different shell companies.

If that's not unethical then :yeshrug:

I'm pointing this out because I see a lot of people comparing Google and Amazon in regards to business tactics.

Im sure they will get what they need but this is about revitalizing the queens districts and I don't see anyone else providing a plan. Yes amazon wj cause gentrification ...the city will need to relocate or provide mix use housing but I disagree that you should hold a whole city back from be retrofitted with smart, well earned, and productive people . At some point the people who currently reside there have to understand the wave of the future and start training towards that
