I was trying not to spoil the last episode of the first season, but that's exactly who I meant. In the first season the west coast resistance was trading the film's with someone who was exchanging information that helped them fight the Japanese. Then, at the end we see X living in a literal High Castle with all the films.

That's what I got from what was on screen, but it sounds like the book was a lot different.

Do the books have travelers born in "other" realities in the story, or was that made up for the show?
I'll edit then, you can edit the quote too, for spoiler reasons

That was definitely not a retcon. The Man is going to play a bigger and bigger role, and his extrapolation is one of those I was talking about. He has a small but vital part in the book, but I like how they've remodeled him here.

The Asian dude with scars threw me for a loop, he was created for the show and I think he might be the biggest storyline liability, actually. They've been subtle with the sci fi element but that seemed hamfisted. We'll see

The prospect of a racist regime that his hell bent on world domination coming to fruition is quite unnerving. In this world, they enslaved the entire continent of Africa and purged all Jews and blacks from Nazi controlled north America. This area stretched from the east coast to colorado

No wonder why the critics love it. This is white folks fantasy come to life. All they need is some cuckold scenes

This is not about time travel or magic

Hitler is not the man in the high castle

Y'all gotta read Philip k dikk novels and about him as a person to get this, so far they have not distilled his style beyond recognition for television

Sounds like the premise of the show might not match the book totally.

The TV version almost definitely has time travel, or at least travel from universes that are almost identical in every way but shifted in time.

We've seen that the way the film reels enter the world is if someone physically travels through time and space, gets their hands on a film, and travels back. That's how the trade minister got the "Bikini Atoll" bomb movie from "Earth Prime".

Some of the High Castle films show Trudy's father dead dressed in a Nazi uniform. We then see that that's not a totally separate world...It's a world identical to the future of the show's main Earth.

So, someone must have traveled BACK from the future of "Earth 2" and brought back a newsreel showing future news.

Could be. I still think it's the same premise but expressed much more blatantly and radically. The "film reel" in the novel is a book that everyone has (no spoilers there), so the show has granted itself a more dynamic medium with more action (being that they're rare and more scandalous) by making it about films. Let's see

WW2 ended with the Japanese and Nazi forces winning, and they control America now. There's a resistance group with a video that is supposed to do something (I don't know what yet). It's about transferring the video across the country so far (I'm on episode 4). There's also a power struggle between the Nazis and Japanese
Im just 20 minutes into S1E1......i get it, it's a white and Japanese world, but can anyone tell me whats happened to the Melanoid tribe? :usure:

How do they address the issue is what im asking. . Was it deportation back to Africa or was it Dachau music?

On the East Coast, no deportation:
:rip:
(They're even killing the children of high level Nazis, if they're determined to be less than genetically 'perfect')

Doing a little better in Japanese territory and in the Neutral Zone, though.

As for Africa, there's some references to the fact that the Nazis want to totally drain the Mediterranean Sea and make Africa an extension of Europe. So basically colonization/replacement.

This show is great. Loved it. I'd say the Film Room is falling off based upon some of the opinions I read but most of the shyttiest posting was done on the first page. A Nazi drama has been looooooong overdue.

I'm towards the end of the 2nd season and confused as shyt. It seems like they've retconn the first season.

Isn't Hitler the 'Man in the High Castle' now it's some other guy?

That's exactly the impression I had. I'm glad, though. The 2nd season was an improvement.
