enlighten me why someone should be fined by their employer for having a private conversation outside of work. Thats like saying we should fine racists for calling me a ni99er in private.
I guess i should stop insulting people on xbox live messages because I might lose my job.
When private conversation becomes known to the public, it's no longer a private conversation.
When public conversation involves conduct that goes against that employer's code, they have the right to take disciplinary action.
Even if said conduct doesn't violate the employer's code, but draws a huge backlash and as a result hurt's the employer's money making ability, you've become a problem for them and they can take action.
Like Imus getting fired from CBS and MSNBC for the "nappy headed hoes" comment. If people give him a pass for that comment he doesn't get fired. But people got pissed, called for his dismissal, sponsors started pulling their ads, he lost money for the company.
One of my jobs, at orientation we had social media training, that said we represent the company and we have to watch the shyt we put on there. And we found out that the boss had someone look at our facebook profiles to make sure we didn't have any dumb shyt on there.
