Dude, movies have been cancelled weeks into filming. Look it up.
A lasso that makes people tell the truth cannot be taken 'more seriously' without it being a detriment to the material IMO.
Yup, which is exactly why marvel takes the approach it does. imagine a flick with 5 creatures walking around calling themselves the guardians of the entire galaxy, and everyone they come into contact with takes their self-appointed title seriously from the begining...

Catwoman is DC right? They did her before Wonderwoman? What was that about?
Character from their biggest IP that would be played by an Oscar winner coming off her well-received action role in a successful Bond movie who also has appeared in another successful comic book franchise.
That looks like a calculated risk worth taking to usually risk adverse movie studio people.

Hmmm . . . that's fukkin' interesting. Seems Wonderwoman has been planned since 1996 and still never made it to screen but some want to act like DC's current super hero slate is all but a forgone conclusion for it being released. The future is unpredictable.
Still all that doesn't explain why Catwoman came before Wonderwoman.
It is an entirely different time and an entirely different set of people running WB.
The folks running WB right now have super-hero comic book properties as a priority and are pushing to have them made into movies and TV shows. Back in the day there was not that same desire at WB other than Batman.

I take it you have not read many Wonder Woman comics then because some of her best stories are not some light-hearted, campy laugh a minute escapades.

Well you really are not in a position to say what tone would or would not be detrimental to the character then.
I've seen her in cartoons and the Linda Carter Tv show. And a lighthearted tone worked in both cases. The DCU isn't based on comics anyway ask Zack Snyder.

Since 2008 batman has been in 2 films.

Since 2008 iron man has been in 5 films.
The point that the OP was making is that DC seems to over use Batman to the exclusion of their other characters.

His point being for every movie another character in DC gets Batman would get 3, while Wonder Woman might be featured in 1 book Batman would be the star of 5 and Batman is the only DC character to have his own video game in years.

Marvel does the same with some characters to a degree but not at the same level as DC with Batman. The closest they have to that level is Spiderman.

Nostalgia aside, that Linda Carter series was dreadful. And outside of Super-Friends there haven't been any WW cartoon interpretations that I would consider light-hearted. The JLU character showed some humor in certain instances but she wasn't "light-hearted". And the WW animated film also isn't something I would call light-hearted.

Also Man of Steel was inspired by Mark Waid's limited series Superman: Birthright.

I enjoyed the Linda Carter series. It was fun and funny with a charismatic lead. The Justice League cartoon on Netflix is not some deadly serious fair. It is light hearted IMO. And like you said Super friends was light hearted and I loved it.

I think making super heroes ‘serious’ and ‘philosophical’ is liming your audience. Most kids are not interested in that and adults who are not diehard fans don’t want that either. They want something fun that they might actually be able to take their kids to. You are really just limiting the audience to comic nerds when you go the serious/angsty route.
Maybe Man of Steel was but this upcoming movie featuring Wonderwoman isn't. Zack Snyder has said, the script for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is a script that was made up in a room with the minds of the creators of this movie throwing ideas around and creating a fully realized story.
