Am I the only one who always thought GZA was the best member of Wu Tang?

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Over the long haul they definitely put out better material

But I just meant talent wise, I feel like GZA is the best. And he doesn't bore me like he does others.
I wouldn't say overall talent. Lyrically. Yes. He's the best lyricist out of all the Wu and they all pretty much acknowledge it. Overall talent tho? I wouldn't say he's the best. I may give that to prolly Ghost. Meth would be that nikka if he dropped better material.

Liquid swords is one of my top 10 albums gza is probably the 4th or 5th best member to me because his discography after ls had wack production and his albums after that weren't good but if he made some better albums he'd probably be 2nd or 3rd.
1 ghost
2 meth
3 Raekwon
4 ins or gza

Deck is probably the GOAT song starter. He always had the best first verses. Triumph. Guillotine. For Heaven's Sake...Deck always knew how to kick a song off.

I wish the flood hadn't ruined his debut album. It would've been dope if his could've dropped after Ironman and been all vintage RZA beats.

Yea deck should technically be better then Raekwon but his albums are mediocre. He's def the better spitter for sure and legendary. & deck along with prodigy in his prime are some of the goat song starters.:banderas: & its wack that flood destroyed decks album would've been classic.:snoop:

Didnt like any of the stuff I've heard of his, prefer Rae but I'm open to changing my view. Could any coli oldhead send me some of his best stuff?

Skimmed through this before and didnt fukk with it at all. To me it feels too clunky and not anywhere as energetic compared to Rae Meth or Ghost. Might just be a generational gap thing.

It sounds corny, but GZA is like a samurai rapping. It's precise as fukk, poetic, hazy, mysterious, battle-tested and with enough aggression/charisma to make it all work.

His verse from Protect Your Neck is legendary.
The most amped he's ever sounded? "Bring Da Ruckus" verse.

his solo Liquid Swords is one of the best rap albums ever. Not even debatable. So you could listen to that shyt top to bottom. Amazing beats, amazing flows, amazing rhymes. If I had to pick top 3 on there: "Swordsman", "Shadowboxin" and "Livin In The World Today" (that 2nd verse especially :ohlawd:)

My preliminary attack keep cemeteries packed
Of nikkas who think it ain't like that

MCs are gunned down like being run down with mad trucks
Then, God struck, religious nikkas call it "bad luck"
Rap celeb, you got caught up in the web
Now, bees are stingin', yo, that nikkas em-singin'
I'm just swingin' swords strictly based on keyboards
Unbalanced like elephants and ants on see-saws

I'm sorry breh. Anyone who isn't impressed by that shyt isn't into hip hop. Those are just great battle rhymes, but done in a way that's unique and poetic.

I agree.

I do also think that if you look at the their prime ('93-'98) that GZA is the best raper on a technical level.

I think Rae and Ghost made the best solo album of the group with Cuban Linx, but at the same time, I think Liquid Swords is the definitive Wu-Tang album. Just because Cuban Linx had the mafioso theme, and didn't feel like as much of a Wu-Tang album as Liquid Swords did. Liquid Swords felt like an extension of the vibe of 36 Chambers, but sharper. I don't know if that makes any sense. Like...I think RZA was at his peak on Liquid Swords, and every single verse on Liquid Swordz is basically perfect, both from GZA and from all the other Wu members.

Plus the way he paints pictures is really dope.

"His Glock clicks like high heeled shoes on parquet floors."

:mindblown:

Who thinks of that?

I said this years ago on here. Liquid Swords is an updated 36 Chambers.

They did Deck dirty tho. His debut shouldn't have been affected by the flood. They should've dropped it in between Liquid Swords and Ironman when they had that big gap between releases
