Iverson really doesn't understand how to turn something he views as a negative into a positive.
It really is sad to see. If he were to accept his role, join the D-League and make it to the NBA it will help the league establish that the D-League is a legitimate option for those who really want to play. He would have the option to be the spokesperson after his playing days are over too...because he is not going to be an announcer.
the d-league offer is a slap in the face.
and mind you, this is the same dallas team that just let derek fisher come & go as he pleased and immediately made him a starter with no training camp or nothing. and who was in the backcourt with him? vince carter. oh and shawn marion on the wing. but iverson gets assigned to the texas legends. CUT IT OUT.
i bet alot of yall dont understand why lovie smith is not accepting coordinator jobs.
Iversons pride is why he isn't in the league. He could of reinvented himself as a player years ago but this delusional nikka still stuck in 2001 wouldn't even come off the bench cuz in his mind he still was an all star player
Allen Iverson will be 38 in june his nba career is over
this is the dumbest post in here.
you do realize that iverson was INDEED AN ALL-STAR during this time, right?
Those same deals A.I. can't get? A.I. can't even get $1 mil in China.
10-time all-star not a first ballot hall of famer? Slap yourself. And no, their situations were NOT in any way similar.
i dont know what deals iverson got in china. i wasnt even talking about iverson with that comment and you know it so cut the bullchit ak. i was referring to you talking out of your @$$ and acting like marbury is desperate for an nba job when in reality, he was turning down contracts from elite teams during multiple offseasons. stop trying to twist chit around to impress your little e-friends.
yes their situations were similar. one of the reasons ray allen left was because he didnt like coming off the bench behind avery bradley, who was more vital to the celtics last year than f**kin rodney stuckey & mike conley were to the pistons & grizzlies when iverson was there. yes those situations are very similar. and if you compare them and have to choose one to refer to as an @$$hole, ray allen would be the a$$hole. but he gets the red carpet treatment.
also, nevermind the fact that the grizzlies admitted they lied to get iverson in memphis. and nevermind the fact that the pistons were in disarray before iverson got there and iverson - who didnt have a bad year there, was used as the scapegoat.
At 33, he was coming off a season averaging 26.4 ppg on 56 TS % (career high), 7.1 apg, 3 rpg, 2 steals and 3 turnovers on a team that won 50 games.
I somehow doubt you retire after having one of the best seasons of your career and your by far most efficient season of your career.
exactly.
one thing i realize about this board is that half of these dudes dont actually follow sports. they just follow whatever propaganda espn throws at them.
Ill say this, while Chauncey is more of a team player the argument that the Nuggets got way better after AI was traded is overblown. Them nikkaz ended up losing to basically the same lakers team in the WCF that iverson lost to in 2008. The only difference was that they got to face the hornets in the first rd with an injured Chris paul then a The Mavs who weren't really that good. While The nuggets in 07' faced the Champion spurs in rd one then in 08' faced the WCF champ lakers
another great post.
and lets not forget that the western conference got weaker when billups was traded to denver. also, he inherited a better structured roster with more defensive minded & intangible-type players. and its not like he played the same position as iverson. billups played point guard, which is what denver needed most.
AND AFTER ALL OF THAT......the nuggets only won like 4 or 5 more games when billups went over there. if the '08 nuggets didnt pi$$ away some of those games during the regular season, they couldve easily been a 2-seed, just like in '09. then as you said, they had a cakewalk set of teams to play in the '09 playoffs.
bunch of propaganda.
props to kenny smith for always reminded these twerps of this. i guess "inside the nba" was on past their bedtime.
