@JustCKing it doesnt matter that its not PHARRELLS song. He's FEATURED on it. Guilty by association. Thats like expecting ppl not to be outraged for example if it was Future ft. Mary Mary "Move That Dope Rmx". Its not Mary Mary's song but they're featured on it. Bottomline you cant be Mr "Happy" one second then telling young african americans to "move that dope" the next

If you're outraged at Pharrell for being a contradiction, that's one thing. That's an entirely different argument. To say that it was all a part of a plan is another. You're making it like "Move That Dope" is a Pharrell song featured on the same album. As if he was marketing two songs to two audiences when that isn't the case especially when one of them isn't even his.

Ya'll reaching with the whole "Move That Dope"/"Happy" being for black people/white people notion. First, "Move That Dope" isn't even Pharrell's song, so of course he's not going to perform it on Ellen. Second, "Happy" was not made for white people. It started off as a song on a soundtrack for a kid movie. It just happened to blow up and it became universal. It's a song that was even performed in black churches. It got play on Urban stations. The biggest kicker is that "Happy" wasn't even shopped as a Pharrell song at first, it was presented to Cee-Lo Green.

As for "Move That Dope", it's Future's song FEATURING Pharrell. "Happy" is a song with universal appeal where "Move That Dope" is most likely for niche audiences. It's also pretty naive to think that white people didn't play or listen to "Move That Dope". A lot of white publications had "Move That Dope" on their list of best songs of last year.

Ya'll acting like it was Pharrell that made a concerted effort to say "I'll release 'Happy' for white folks and drop a verse on 'Move That Dope' for blacks".
Damn you took the words out of my mouth homie.

I don't even care for Kanye's current music, Pharrell or Future, but the booth is becoming so cringeworthy with threads like these :scusthov: nikkas try too hard to be controversial.
