This was the best Alien movie since the first two.

Liked that they went back to its roots, Aliens is just a slasher movie in space. Not a scifi epic needing expanded lore on some starwars shyt.

Only critique is i didn't really see a need for them to go so young with the cast, but even that fits the slasher genre so its more of a nitpick

Terminator franchise could learn from this, Started out as Cyberborg version of Friday the 13th and tried turning it into a sci fi action franchise. Bring it back to its slasher movie roots. Action movies only work with Action stars, and Arnold is not the draw he once was.

Agree with almost all of this. The original writers even said they wanted a "Texas chainsaw Massacre in space".

The ironic thing about Terminator is they basically remade Part 1 four times now. What T1 has that the others don't is that its super raw and grimey. The eye ball surgical scene separates all that T1 is from what Terminator became after T2 which is T1 in High Def.

Not sure they can go back to that tbh. With Alien its easier. But yeah the whole Alien universe since prometheus has made the franchise bloated.

Some people like to say James Cameron's Aliens made the xeno less mysterious and too easy to kill and more like a bug etc. but Ridley takes the franchise back and makes the xeno take a back seat to the engineers and places David as the main antagonist as opposed to the Alien.

Keep it simple just have a better cast next time. Better kills.

I think the bolded is because these several of the sequels were rated pg 13 instead of Rated R like the originals. and nowadays even a rated r movie seems softer than the r ratings of the past. same thing happened with the Robocop remake. I rarely see titties in rated R action movies these days, just saw deadpool and wolverine, shyt was rated R, but they still commented, no drug use allowed. :russ:why? its r rated, let him do coke, you mean to tell me wolf of wallstreet is harder than serial murderer deadpool?
They only do R Ratings these days so they can have larger blood spurts and use profanity for vulgar jokes

This shyt was flames...

I thought Covenant was the final nail in the alien franchise coffin but this one brings it back on some undertaker shyt.

Hopefully Alvarez sticks around for at least another Alien movie.

I thought the alien at the end was going to be dumb cause they telegraphed that shyt almost the whole movie but that shyt ended up being :wow:

Thought this movie was going to end about 3 different times though :mjlol:

That acid scene looked cool but even semi realistically it was :mjlol:

A little disappointed Andy didn't go all the way :demonic: like he was on the verge of doing a few times.

I'll be playing this again on my 7.2 home theater system day one it comes out in 4k.

I just watched all the Alien movies (minus Predator) before seeing this. This is one of the better ones in the franchise

black dude was excellent. id go as far to say stole the show. i agree entirely w/ the dt review-- it started out great but i wasnt crazy about the last act. i didnt see it coming and thought it was kinda silly looking when i did.

nikka was pissing me off in the beginning because he was giving off “magical negro assistant” vibes. But thankfully he got that chip upgrade midway thru

I agree I’d like an older cast but seems to be a theme of Fede’s films—young adults trying to overcome financial poverty. Although I did like the cast the more I watched the film
