That was an “alien” movie. Prometheus is a completely different franchise and we don’t know what happened between the two movies
No it’s not. It’s literally revealed at the end that Prometheus was an alien prequel :skip: and the robot in Prometheus is the bad guy in covenant. They even show shaws body in covenant and how David used her to make new xenomorphs

Prometheus was directed and Co produced by Ridley Scott.

Are y’all brehs ok? :pachaha:

Same universe and same director doesn’t necessarily mean same franchise.

And even based on your understanding we’re are still missing an entire movie in between

Then wtf were the flashback scenes for? We know David killed Shaw used her body for experiments then used the goo on the handsome squidwards in covenant. You still need a movie for that, for it to be connected? I don’t see how it’s not a sequel other than it’s not called Prometheus 2 :comeon: That was your argument. How is it not?

Nice! Sci Fi movies involving Aliens are my favorite type of media, might have to see this in theaters rather than streaming. Can't wait!

I dont even think Ridley Scott understood what he wanted with Prometheus. It's a gorgeous looking movie but once again the story is a mess and most of the characters suck.
From what I remember reading, the original Prometheus story had stuff about the engineers sending down someone to Earth in biblical times to check on humanity, which ended in the engineer being crucified, implying he was Jesus, which is why the engineers now want to destroy Earth after creating it. It was supposed to connect a lot of the ancient alien conspiracies and Christian mythology to the Alien mythology. Supposedly the studio got cold feet and stepped in and forced them to remove the religious connections, and I think the movie suffered as a whole from missing out on that.

Keep in mind I read about all of this a decade ago, so I could be wrong about some things.

"Prometheus" was wild ass. One of the worst movies I've ever seen, relative to budget/talent involved. I would really go in on it but I already did at length a few other times.

This trailer has my interest and Fede Alvarez is a good horror director.

That’s somewhat true, the deleted scenes with the Engineer allude to that. The original script that jon spaihts wrote (you can find it online) was a straight up alien prequel and Scott decided to strip the plot down away from the major xenomorph references and make it loosely connected but still set in universe.

I haven't read Spaights script since it was released but I don't remember any of the Jesus stuff being in his script, that was all stuff Lindelof added to make things far less straight forward and more mysterious. Not making it a direct prequel was so fukking dumb, I liked some of what Lindelof tried to do but I think they should've stayed a bit more grounded with Spaights script, it was really damn good. Was originally titled Alien: Engineers. Despite all of that, it was honestly one of my favorite movie going experiences. The 3D was fantastic. I was not much of a fan of Covenant however.
