I've got more songs of hers than any other female artist on my iTunes. Even more than MJB or Sade.

Those first three albums were dope. Quality all around. The likes of Rihanna or Beyonce have never EVER released anything half as good as AK's first three albums.

I remember when she first came out, they were gassing her like she was a once in a generation artist that was gonna change the game. Classically trained pianist, biracial, influenced by Stevie Wonder and Prince....intelligent, relies on her talent and not her beauty. Etc Etc.

Then i realized she wasn't really doing shyt on the piano besides using it as a prop, bytch cant sing worth a shyt, none of her influences are really present in her music, and she was purely a pop artist. Her biggest crime is that she has so many cac genes, her look started to fade once she turned 30. She was a certified dime, now she is a "attractive" wide assed, flat chested annoyance.

You know I live to give Alicia Keys the business (I send it, she inexplicably signs for it) but at least she's talking about something. :yeshrug: :ld: It's a shallowly simplistic approach that doesn't really address anything substantively but she tried.

That marketing department pulled a major fast one on us.

Listen.

This is the main problem with those "conscious" artists or their wannabes.

If you truly want to send a message, doing so as lazily as possible doesn't score any points.

You're an entertainer FIRST AND FOREMOST.

ENTERTAIN. Thats your main medium.

People will first gravitate to your presentation, and then your message. Always.

If you want people to pay attention more to your message, go write a book.

you know that i think about it... a lot of alicia's hits could have still been hits without her.

like her voice doesn't really have THAT MUCH character to it to the point where it was HER that made the song.

like if you give "the way you make me feel" to another pop singer other than mike, it ain't the same track no more. no one else had his delivery. he was unique. he had character. he was one of a kind. the words and the melody would be the same but the feel would be different.

not sure you could say the same for the majority of alicia's shyt. she's KIND OF distinct... but not really. not enough to warrant her current reputation.

It's hilarious how she and many other people in the music industry spend so much time creating a sophisticated, artsy persona while releasing the most simple bullshyt music. She's such a good pianist, how the hell she gonna play something that simple...

You've been in the game for more than a decade. Take a fukking risk, do something different, make a statement. Where are the Madonnas and Stevie Wonders and Tina Turners of this era, artists willing to say controversial shyt or take stands with meaningful music? Everything today is party or feel good anthems.

Who else would make a whole instrumental album (well, mostly) based on the life of plants? :pachaha:

Can't wait to see the god in concert :blessed: As for Alicia, I don't know if I have ever forgiven her from stealing those Grammys from India (another fake, but still) :patrice:
