What's getting lost here is that this was a way to avoid both Nia and Ronda losing in a way that the fans won't feel is bullsh1t and robbed them of a finish.
She didn't look believable winning the MITB, but the best justification for her in her spot is that she's the best on the mic and character-wise in the company. She has a character people can identify and relate to real life beyond "I'm a good worker who came up from the indies/NXT and am slightly quirky"
She's being booked as an opportunist too, not particularly strong. She won last night with a weapon and lost clean to Ember Moon, who isn't a star yet, twice recently. She hasn't been getting a superpush lately.

You’re right about Mickie, that’s why she’s had even less of a role since Nattie came to Raw since she’s there for the same reason. When Mickie faced Asuka in NXT, I had it in my mind that Mickie was on Trish level of stardom, and with her talking ability, name value and positive extraneous factors she can come in facing today’s stars on big shows and then become a very credible gate keeper. I referenced size difference with Alexa & Nia. 200 lbs. Read again. The only wrestlers triple Bryan size are all dead.

You are trying really hard to justify the bullshyt that happened last night. She's getting the Cena/Reigns push without having the actual ring skills to warrant it. Having her as champ is the equivalent to having someone like Paul Bearer as champ.

16 straight pay per view events she’s been champ or been in the title match? Christ that’s awful. Even peak super Cena didn’t hog the main event that long straight. Triple H’s reign of terror saw him work 17 straight months on raw where he was champ going into the pay per view or challenging for it from unforgiven 2002 through backlash 2004 to give some context for how over the top having Alexa in the title scene this long without interruption.
Edit: actually Cena had 11 straight pay per view events from Wrestlemania 21 through one night stand 2006, didn’t challenge at vengeance 2006, and then another 11 straight from summerslam 2006 through unforgiven 2007 and was about to headline no mercy before getting hurt, won the rumble when he came back, and then challenged another 3 months straight from no way out through backlash 2008
