janoris jenkins didn't play in that game

i'm just sayin go with your veteran, play the defense that makes the niners so great, don't fumble punt returns, and you're good

after the giants game im convinced smith cant beat them

they have a book on him, play short and mid and force him to throw it over 25 yards

But our backup is better than the veteran. When the Veteran played the Rams...he was down 14-0 in the 1st quarter. I'll never understand the amount of props Alex gets...as if he wasn't complete shyt in half the games he played this year and isn't limited.

It's Kaep time.

he scored a TD before he got injured, (scratch that, he scored a TD after he got hit if i remember) Kaep's gettin the benefit of teams not knowing much about him since they haven't seen him play.

we'll see what happens though, i could be wrong or right

And Kaep didn't get many 1st team reps either. Again, 9ers system is the most QB friendly system in the league. He will be fine. What will they do? get faster so they can chase him down? React faster to his passes? lock down receivers? Stop the run? There isn't a team that can shut down every part of the 9ers offense. He'll go through his growing pains but he will be fine.

I just don't see how he can be worse than Alex. Yea, he may have a lower completion percentage and throw the occasional pick, but he'll be able to stretch the field and make plays with his feet.

I think we were very lucky that Jenkins didn't play that game 3 weeks ago, I think he would have been able to make a few more plays and we may have lost that one.

But going into Sunday i`m confident we`ll win, not cause of anything the offense will do, but the defense will have a lot to prove.

I also think Kaep will play pretty well.

Simms got his job back. The other three were having poor to mediocre seasons before getting hurt.

Smith wasn't great, but he was perfectly servicable. 13 TDs, 5 picks, 70% completion, and 8 yards per attempt. It's more of a Saracen situation than any of those other dudes.

that

smith had some record, most completions without an INT i think. we act like turnovers don't change games.

kaepernick is dangerous in a good and bad way, i think the niners will be fine with just Alex but puttin kaep in there might cost them

Stats don't tell the whole picture and it's never been more true than with Alex. The fancy stats look nice but watching the game is a different story. Hell, looking at the amount of sacks he takes, the poor 3rd down conversion, low yardage, etc...you see a guy who lives off of dink and dunk and crazy YAC. The Cards game was nice on paper but dude was completing 5 yard checkdowns that got taken to the house.

INT's can change games, but they also may not change games. Sacks change games as well...and so does not converting on 3rd down.

I'd take a 4TD 2INT performance over a 1TD 0INT performance.

28pts > 7pts

Picks can translate to points, but not always. TD's always translate to 7 pts.

those two picks can be 14 pts for the other team + the points their offense scored

you don't need to score much with that defense

Do you have stats on picks and the amount of points that they lead to?

If you'd take 1TD 0INT over 4TD 2INT then I don't know what to say to you. I want a QB who can move the ball and keep the D fresh. The D in both playoff games got scored on once the O sputtered and couldn't convert on 3rd down.

as if the niners offense is totally inept with alex smith. he's proven that he could get down the field with that offense

we'll see, all i gotta say

not really

while I disagree with jlova about ints not being as important, I think with this coaching they can handcuff kaep almost as well as alex if they have to.

the saints game good example of that really. he made safe throws, had couple of mistakes- one he pick and one near pick in the endzone moss had a smart play on, but it happens.

I just think that this year alex regressed, in all games we fell behind by more than 3 pts we lost. and he couldnt come back

kaep gives us the luxury of downfield passing when we really need it.

you look at games the team won with alex and besides the GB game, every game you put kaep in we prolly win as well.

bills
jets
cards
lions
seahags

ok, maybe the lions game

so you have two wins that would be under question if kaep had started. and thats huge ifs as well.

harbs if preparing us for the next step as soon as he saw alex was the weakest link. he handpicked kaep to be the future. and he'll also save us from salary cap hell.

its the right move, 100%
