Alex Smith will be fine, he can stay in San Fran as a backup or he can leave and compete for a starting job elsewhere. But like I said in the other thread I think he has a right to be a little salty. Kap will be the better QB, but to make it seem like he's leaps and bounds better than Alex Smith, he isn't. It's just he's a better fit for our offense moving forward and he has a good skillset.

It's coming though. It's obvious Colin has a much higher ceiling than Alex, but this is still his first year as a starter and he started MID-SEASON. He's gonna have an atrocious game sometime in the playoffs thats gonna cost the 49ers a Super Bowl trip. I'm rooting for him, especially after that racist ass article talking about his tats Colin Kaepernick ushers in an inked-up NFL quarterbacking era - NFL - Sporting News, but I still don't think it was a good idea to do this mid-season

Kapaernick has the ability to make the 49ers a defensive and offensive thread. With the 49ers I had no faith at all in them if they lost the lead. With Kap I feel they at least have a fighting chance of making a comeback.

Kaepernick clearly gives the 49ers a much higher ceiling than Smith. Its not like Alex was doing anything exceptionally well that Colin cant do. He makes good decisions, doesn't turn it over and can run the offense. What he does better than Alex is....he can make those throws that Alex couldnt or didnt have the balls to make, he is a threat on the run and can escape the pocket better to find receivers....teams cant hone in on Frank Gore alone b/c the QB is a running threat. The 49ers will be just fine if Harbaugh asks him to play in the same role that Alex did this last season and a half because Kaep is better at doing that role.
