What danger are you under? The chance someone is going to go on a rampage and shoot you? You're about as likely to die in a homocidal rampage as you are to get hit by a car crossing the street. We have guns because we have a right to. Knives and bats kill more people then guns combined. We sensibly dont ban them. To say we shouldnt have them because of a few maniacs is ridiculous. Should we ban everything that causes death because of the actions of a small minority or just guns cuz you're scared.

A baseball bat is designed for playing baseball, a knife is designed for cutting. Yes if used as a weapon they can be fatal, but that is not their purpose. Guns on the other hand are not makeshift weapons, they are actual weapons by design. They are designed to kill, that is their function. They are purpose built to be efficient killing devices. They serve no other purpose.

Ok so whats your point? Why cant a human being own a device specifially designed to kill? Because a handful of people might go on a rampage? I hope this isnt your logic.
