The original 1998 Lancet paper made two key claims based on its findings studying twelve children, which, according to the Wakefield, had been, “consecutively referred to the pediatric gastroenterology unit at the Royal Free Hospital and School of Medicine in London. First, it claimed that eight of the twelve children studied had manifested developmental regression within two weeks of the MMR vaccine, and one had developed regression after a measles infection, the clear implication being that there was a close temporal relationship between MMR vaccination and the onset of regression in 75% of the children. The second claim was that all 12 of the children demonstrated “intestinal abnormalities, ranging from lymphoid nodular hyperplasia to aphthoid ulceration.” Although the paper stated that the authors “did not prove an association between measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and the syndrome described” and that “virological studies are underway that may help to resolve this issue,” Wakefield at his press conference to announce the findings stated that he had preliminary virological evidence showing measles virus in the gut. It took him four years to follow up these results with a paper in Molecular Pathology that reported measles virus in 75/91 children with ileal inflammation and children with developmental disorders. Although Wakefield was careful not to use the word autism in the actual text of the paper–or even the word vaccine–the implication of the paper was plain, and, if it wasn’t to some, Wakefield made sure to drive home what he thought the implication was: That the MMR is associated with a syndrome of developmental disorders, including autism, and inflammatory bowel disease.

"Thimerosal is a preservative that has been used in manufacturing vaccines since the 1930s. Reports have indicated that infants can receive ethylmercury (in the form of thimerosal) at or above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for methylmercury exposure, depending on the exact vaccinations, schedule, and size of the infant. In this study we compared the systemic disposition and brain distribution of total and inorganic mercury in infant monkeys after thimerosal exposure with those exposed to MeHg. Monkeys were exposed to MeHg (via oral gavage) or vaccines containing thimerosal (via intramuscular injection) at birth and 1, 2, and 3 weeks of age. Total blood Hg levels were determined 2, 4, and 7 days after each exposure. Total and inorganic brain Hg levels were assessed 2, 4, 7, or 28 days after the last exposure. The initial and terminal half-life of Hg in blood after thimerosal exposure was 2.1 and 8.6 days, respectively, which are significantly shorter than the elimination half-life of Hg after MeHg exposure at 21.5 days. Brain concentrations of total Hg were significantly lower by approximately 3-fold for the thimerosal-exposed monkeys when compared with the MeHg infants, whereas the average brain-to-blood concentration ratio was slightly higher for the thimerosal-exposed monkeys (3.5 +/- 0.5 vs. 2.5 +/- 0.3). A higher percentage of the total Hg in the brain was in the form of inorganic Hg for the thimerosal-exposed monkeys (34% vs. 7%). The results indicate that MeHg is not a suitable reference for risk assessment from exposure to thimerosal-derived Hg. Knowledge of the toxicokinetics and developmental toxicity of thimerosal is needed to afford a meaningful assessment of the developmental effects of thimerosal-containing vaccines.

According to his recollections...Wakefield never mentioned autism and in the paper right there says it. He was about the disease in the bowls.

According to his recollections...Wakefield never mentioned autism and in the paper right there says it. He was about the disease in the bowls.

did you read the last line..he implied it..noticed that he doesn't use the world vaccine either...so that means his study isn't based on vaccines? fukk boi

The MMR vaccine controversy centered around the 1998 publication of a fraudulent research paper in the medical journal The Lancet that lent support to the subsequently discredited theory that colitis and autism spectrum disorders could be caused by the combined measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.[1] The media has been heavily criticised for its naive reporting and for lending undue credibility to the architect of the fraud, Andrew Wakefield.

Investigations by Sunday Times journalist Brian Deer revealed that Wakefield had multiple undeclared conflicts of interest,[2][3] had manipulated evidence,[4] and had broken other ethical codes. The Lancet paper was partially retracted in 2004 and fully retracted in 2010, and Wakefield was found guilty by the General Medical Council of serious professional misconduct in May 2010 and was struck off the Medical Register, meaning he could no longer practice as a doctor.[5] In 2011, Deer provided further information on Wakefield's improper research practices to the British medical journal, BMJ, which in a signed editorial described the original paper as fraudulent.[6][7] The scientific consensus is that no evidence links the vaccine to the development of autism, and that the vaccine's benefits greatly outweigh its risks.

Following the initial claims in 1998, multiple large epidemiological studies were undertaken. Reviews of the evidence by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,[8] the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Institute of Medicine of the US National Academy of Sciences,[9] the UK National Health Service,[10] and the Cochrane Library[11] all found no link between the vaccine and autism. While the Cochrane review expressed a need for improved design and reporting of safety outcomes in MMR vaccine studies, it concluded that the evidence of the safety and effectiveness of MMR in the prevention of diseases that still carry a heavy burden of morbidity and mortality justifies its global use, and that the lack of confidence in the vaccine has damaged public health.[11] A special court convened in the United States to review claims under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program rejected compensation claims from parents of autistic children.[12][13]

The claims in Wakefield's 1998 The Lancet article were widely reported;[14] vaccination rates in the UK and Ireland dropped sharply,[15] which was followed by significantly increased incidence of measles and mumps, resulting in deaths and severe and permanent injuries.[16] Physicians, medical journals, and editors[17][18][19][20][21] have described Wakefield's actions as fraudulent and tied them to epidemics and deaths,[22][23] and a 2011 journal article described the vaccine-autism connection as "the most damaging medical hoax of the last 100 years".[24]

"The discontinuation of thimerosal-containing vaccines in Denmark in 1992 was followed by an increase in the incidence of autism. Our ecological data
do not support correlation between thimerosal-containing vaccines and the incidence of autism. Our
data cannot, of course, exclude the possibility that
thimerosal at doses larger than used in Denmark
may lead to neurodevelopmental damage."

The reason you are responding so fast to the thread is you aren't reading the info I stated. I read all your info....all of it. This study investigated if the discontinuation of
thimerosal-containing vaccines paralleled a decrease
in the occurrence of autism.
The incidence of autism
remained fairly constant during the period of use of
thimerosal in Denmark, and the rise in incidence
beginning in 1991 continued even in the group of
children born after the discontinuation of thimerosal.
The amount of thimerosal used in vaccines changed
during the study period with less amount of thimerosal administered in the period 1970–1992. Moreover, the thimerosal-containing vaccine was gradually phased out meaning that the incidence rates
should decline gradually if thimerosal has any impact on the development of autism
. However, an
increase (rather than a decrease) in the incidence
rates of autism was observed.
Only very few incidence studies of autism have
been made, and we found similar incidence rates and
the same trend of increasing rates of autism in our
study compared with studies conducted in other
countries
.14,15 The increase in the incidence of autism
from 1990 on may be attributable to more attention
being drawn to the syndrome of autism and to a
change in the diagnostic criteria from the ICD-8 to
the ICD-10 in 1994
. Also, outpatient activities were
included in the Danish Psychiatric Central Research
Register in 1995 and because many patients with
autism in former years have been treated as outpatients this may exaggerate the incidence rates, simply
because a number of patients attending the child
psychiatric treatment system before 1995 were recorded for the first time, and thereby counted as new
cases in the incidence rates.

breh i don't know...it seems pretty clear to me...:pachaha::pachaha::pachaha:

:ohhh: omigod your right...except did you read the study :
read methods and designs..miller and Goldman went to The World Factbook maintained by, of all organizations, the Central Intelligence Agency. Noting that in 2009 the U.S. ranked 34th in infant mortality, they looked up the infant mortality rates from the U.S. and all the nations that have lower infant mortality rates than the U.S. and then compared them to the number of vaccine doses each nation require. They then graphed the infant mortality rate as a function of vaccine dose, and this resulted in

64885-figure1.jpg

oh if you've ever taken data management..the graph is an absolute failure...a real corellation would be life the dots line up to the line but look at the deviation BAHAHAHHAHA

That’s it. That really is the “meat” of the paper, such as it is. AND WHY DID HE USE ONLY ONE YEAR OF DATA!???

and you can pretty much destroy this argument if you get canada..canda has higher immunization rates then the us but their infant mortality rate is ...GET WITH ME HERE VASTLY LOWER...you can't corellate the two...USE YOUR FUCING LOGIC KINGS MEN..oh kingsmen you also forgot that corrections were made to the article that you should've seen :ohh:

:ohhh: No declaration of Conflict of Interest was made at the time of submission. The Authors would like to make the following declaration at this time:

Neil Z Miller is associated with the ‘Think Twice Global Vaccine Institute’. Gary S Goldman has not been associated with the ‘World Association for Vaccine Education’ (WAVE) for more than four years but was, at the time of publication of the article, still listed as a Director for it on the WAVE website.

bahhhahahhahaa... so nikka was funded by the anti-vaxer movement

Organ Problems after vaccinations.

Elsevier

wow....nice..except i can find a whole bunc of articles that say opposite and why are you focussing on premature babies..what about the majority of babies born in normal circumstances bahahah!!!like can you say the same for the majority people have organ failures because of vaccinations??? i'm pretty certain i don't
I don't see anything in the small abstract that condemns the practice of vaccination. The link is available only to subscribers and I was unable to access the full text. Also, I would be interested to know how the sampling was done, why were the subjects in the NICU to begin with? The title mentions premature infants, but then, does this paper deal with only the at-birth dose of vaccination? What were the pre-existing co-morbidities in the children?

But most importantly, analysing transient rise in CRP, especially in premature infants, ostensibly following at-birth vaccination shots, especially with a sample of 239 infants, is certainly not the first ever safety study on vaccines in history, nor, as far as I can see, does it condemn the practice.
