15/7mm is good? The closest to me is in that list but is also a dome theater.. I don't know if I really like the idea of watching a screen I have to look up at.

NY PEOPLE...IF YOU HAVE A CAR, GO TO THE NEW ROCHELLE IMAX THEATER FOR FILMS LIKE THIS. THEY HAVE THE COMFORTABLE STADIUM SEATING, ENORMOUS SCREEN, RIDICULOUS SOUND, ETC.

Having said that...even I won't be able to watch it in true IMAX this weekend.

the one in Raleigh may be the movie theater "IMAX" which is what people are calling fake.


the one in Charlotte is the real IMAX. The joint you probably went to on school field trips and what not as a kid, lol.

I just took my son to see Spiderman at the IMAX theatre in Cary, and just copped three tickets for me and the kids to see TDKR at the same theater.

Are Hollywood movies re-mastered for IMAX, cropped or otherwise manipulated to fit the screen?

Per filmmakers' requests, IMAX maintains the original aspect ratios when converting Hollywood films into The IMAX Experience. The result is often letterboxed so it doesn't fill the entire IMAX screen. While the aspect ratio was altered for a few early films (Star Wars, for exampe), it hasn't been done for several years. Our current releases preserve the same aspect ratios they were shot in.

What is IMAX DMR?

The image on a 35mm film frame is comprised of a fine grain structure like that of all photographic images. This grain, when projected on to the IMAX screen, looks like a TV channel with bad reception. IMAX DMR removes this grain while preserving the quality of the underlying image making what you see on the screen crystal clear. To create the brightness and clarity that audiences have come to expect from The IMAX Experience, IMAX uses a proprietary computer program to make the images sharper than they were originally, while colors are adjusted for the unique technically superior characteristics of the IMAX screen.

And now I can't find the wiki-link on IMAX DMR. But basically it had several high profile movie makers and directors criticize DMR.

I was in a real Imax theater before, you had to turn your whole f*cking head to see one side of the screen to the other, now adays, this sh*t is slightly bigger than a regular theater.

Looks like the only true IMAX theater on the island has that stupid dome screen. I saw Transformers 2 on that shyt and my neck was all fukked up afterwards
