I remember my fun back and forth with @theworldismine13 about this and I brought up this very issue.

This is a big reason why they’re bottom 3-5 in every important category from education to healthcare to income among a few. Not sure any state consistently votes against its own best interests so regularly. Maybe Mississippi or Louisiana?
