Africans are equally responsible for the enslavement of their brothers, so it makes sense he would try to downplay/minimize

I guess the Jews let the holocaust go which is why they’re so successful

I guess they don’t get mad about being stereotyped corporate cabalists anymore

That's why I say I don't entirely agree with him. His perspective lacks empathy because neither he nor the Senegalese are in our shoes. Vlad tried to reel him him too to clean his position up if you listen carefully, but Akon pretty much doubled down. Definitely a lack of empathy on his part, not to mention ignorant of how slavery is affecting us to this day. That said, it's not something to simply get over and move on.

Where my views do run parallel to his, is not holding one's breath waiting on a check. I salute those that are pushing for reparations as it is overdue. However, at the same time I wouldn't hold my breath either. Some folks are willing to disregard organization, or forgo exercising political capital beyond the surface in the name of getting the check cut. That's a fatal mistake to me. I think most recognize that you can push for reparations and at the same time stay vigilant and be active socially and politically. There are some though who have developed tunnel vision when it comes to subject. Trump just changed the judiciary in this country for decades to come, but folks will disregard that in the name of "cut the check." I'm a firm believer in doing for one's self and as Akon said if they haven't done anything now, don't be in expectation of it ever happening. That's not to say I agree with shrugging one's shoulders and giving up, but don't treat it as a zero sum game.
Akon is a hustler, pay attention to his interviews and how he talks about the Chinese loaning his money. What pisses me off is that he speaking in broad manner when really he’s just has power over the area the president of Senegal gave him

Some of his talking points are actual pretty similar to bullet points you see on coli all the time

- Ain't no reparations happening
- Why live in a country that won't say sorry
- Come back home to the motherland

This is the one that pisses me off the most.

"Come over...only if you can contribute to the business structure...oh and ignore all the Western and Eastern influence all throughout African countries."

America is far from perfect. But, let's keep it honest when talking geopolitics.

Because they uphold their oppressors traditions

We are on the Frontline, they don't face what we face because we are face to face with white supremacy

They seem to have forgotten, look at them wearing blonde wigs

No pride, Akon shouldn't say shyt about American blacks

The way their leaders allow Africa to be exploited is nothing short of shameful

I dont wanna hear that fukk nikka talking about us, the shyt they got going on over there is funny to me

The wigs are just the metaphor, its pretty ironic actually

Yeah..
No real discussion will come of this..
It’s a reason why ADOS are nervous about going back home..
Get over the past but hold on to old school jonesing like
African Booty Scratcher

Both parties are not innocent..
We both have grievances to air out and heal..
Amongst the diaspora..

:hhh: Really?

What about the fight we put up to make America a place people around the world can come to and thrive?

It can be all love, but, let's stop acting like we owe something to Africans like we were sitting around doing nothing til the Immigration boom in the '80s.

"African booty scratchers" ?!?

You holding American blacks to the bullshyt children do, in general?

I extent my apologies, but, don't rewrite history like black people across this country aren't extremely welcoming of immigrants of all nationalities for the most part.

I don't entirely agree with him after watching the video, but I don't entirely disagree with him either. I'm curious how many folks are going to watch the clip in its entirety.

Yeah you gotta watch the whole clip which is asking alot. I feel the same way you do, but he’s right by saying we need to understand America dont fukk wit us like that and was never designed to treat us fairly. How much longer are we gonna keep marching, singing and begging for the white mans acceptance

Bro if you’re going to talk be specific all those pics are in Nigeria, Akon is Senegalese this is probably another problem, you paint Africa is a cultural monolith when each of these countries move in their own distinct matter that’s probably another thing adding to the confusion.

I hate that "you guys have your own history" bullshyt Vlad said. So, 1619 to 2020 was fake history.

:dahell:

"Letting go of the pass" :dahell: "It's a lot of weight...you just got to let it go" Fam, you could say the same thing about slavery people say about reparations. fukk that bullshyt.

Vlad on that Back to Africa, Go Back... bullshyt.

We don't even think about when we sold you...........

But it really doesn't matter, I'm sure there are tons of Africans who recognize the effects of slavery and capitalism.
