Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Akon just confirmed Tariq's immigrant theory with these 2 videos.

3:05 "The latin culture was closer too me, we had so much in common".

Akon moved to Atlanta and started a multi million dollar car theft ring.

Alot of these immigrants who come to the U.S don't identify as black, family. They're also responsible for a lot of crime, and foundational black Americans get blamed for it.

I imagine you’re speaking about a specific location cause as a nation this is BS! Brooklyn, Boston and certain parts of Florida are probably the only places in this entire country where the bolded might be true.

What projection?

I'm telling you how Latins were back then, it's no way he was getting along with them, and not us, if you believe that you will believe anything

Ask anyone that was there, he's bullshyting

Why are you telling Akon's story?

You are projecting, there are no 2 ways about it

My man, he's known for lying, and the way he talked about ADOS calling us nikkas, instead of just blacks tells me he got herbed. Do you know how tough it was back then?

I can tell you how each group got treated, because we all didn't get along until rap united people in the 90s. Most Latins just dealt with each other

Haitians got shytted on by everyone, Latins weren't even thought of besides Puerto ricans/colombians, and if they just got here they didn't like blacks, and i dont just mean kids, adults too. Jamaicans were the only group who other black immigrants imitated. Trinidadian were second, but even Haitians denied being Haitian. The same with Africans, but they were very little in numbers

He's lying, trust me. He probably got joked on, but all that Latin a showed him more love then ados in the 80's? nikka please!

You know he's lying because he doesn't have a Latin accent, he sounds like me! That means he was around us mostly, not latins

It is not, nor has it ever been an EITHER/OR situation.
As in either you remember slavery, or you bust your ass to succeed.

His comments make that assumption.

I applaud and salute the spirit and determination of your ancestor to succeed and create wealth for his family.

There have been and continue to be successful AAs here AND who teach their children their full documented history, including chattel slavery period. The same way that you were taught about the neo-slavery system of sharecropping that your ancestor endured or overcame.

People here already know that my family is not from here, but Akon's comment was disrespectful and offensive to me as a Black man.

fukk him.

Thanks, I can respect that.:obama: He was a hard working man with a can-do attitude. You can do both but more of that attitude and less complaining is what we need

My great-grandfather was a sharecropper and the son of former slaves. He worked from that to becoming a carpenter, moving to California and buying a house. He had a 3rd grade education.

When he died (in the early 90s) he was a millionaire.

Now I’ve had it up to here with y’all telling me about slavery and how you can’t make something of yourself whether in America or Africa. Opportunities are everywhere.

Stop the constant excuses. It’s weak and not cute

Its currently the International Decade For People Of African Decent and the continent has recieved an unprecidented amount of visitors representing the diaspora. Belly is a movie, does the data support your statement?

But we’re “lazy” right? :heh:

fukk everyone. Everyone is an enemy of the descendant of the Black American slave.

Including the creators of this corporate funded fake hit-piece sponsored by the very banks built off my ancestors backs.
