I think Akon worded it wrong. I do think it’s worthwhile for every black person to visit Africa or a place where we are the majority and occupy the major industries. It does something positive to your psyche to see people who look like you occupy any and all positions in society.

It’s funny because Africa was actually affected greatly from the slave trade. That’s how ignorant his statement is. The chaos and underdevelopment links all the way back to the destruction from that era. Colonialism was possible because of how weakened the continent was from the centuries long onslaught. And that’s just the African side. The diaspora is a whole different level of trauma that as an African he should be more sensitive towards.

While I understand the right for people to speak their mind, I really wish people actually learn a little bit before saying shyt.
