I always find it hilarious the shawn critics that do the whole "He was on top when the business was going down" yadda yadda shtick :mjlol:

First of all nobody was competing w/ the NWO and nobody was coming close to how hot of an item they were. Let's not even forgot this at a time Bret took his hiatus and before SCSA , it was just HBK and bums vs. the NWO/Flair/Sting etc, give me a break

Now back to Styles, what happened when he was the face of the TNA? I love Styles but he is no HBK in terms of charisma, promo and overall performing

Nobody but Stone Cold when he KICKED THEM OFF THE MOUNTAIN:laugh:

well aj styles isn't half the professional wrestling superstar that shawn michaels is so if the ratings were bad while shawn was on top i shudder to imagine what they might have been during that time had aj styles been on top.
Considering all that Shawn Michaels was given and how long he was active, he isn't as big of a superstar/household name as he should be.

You mean when WCW's momentum was taking off? You can't act like AJ never left a "sinking ship" himself, that excuse doesn't hold up in this regard. There was so much controversy happening around that time, WWE is lucky they made it out of that, and Rock and Austin were booked and delivered perfectly in their respective roles.

wcw was already winning most of the Monday night wars before hbk got the belt. and they generally pulled better ratings than the wwf period, dating back to the nwa days.

you cant compare TNA to any of these companies. theyre a company that never got a fair chance and never got the propers exposure. I wouldn't call them a sinking ship.

No, I can't compare TNA to WWE and WCW, but it was on a prime time network I'm pretty sure WWE was on as well, and couldn't compete, but they did travel, and a decent fair amount people knew what it was. I'm not talking about ROH here, TNA is a pretty fair mention, and AJ was their poster boy.

its a different landscape than 20-30 years ago.

TNA never got a fair shot and still don't.

they came post-monopoly. the general "wrestling fan" is programmed to just support WWE.
if ROH tried to flex and compete with the WWE, they would get chitted on too.

AJ carried the TNA torch properly breh. he did a great job as the poster-boy for TNA.
hbk did a piss-poor job as the poster-boy for the WWE.

Everything in this post is false. You can't just make shyt up, breh :dahell:

I'm not making anything up. some of yall are just brainwashed by what vince spoon-feeds you.

nitro won the 1st head-to-head, and they were trading wins with raw, winning more than they lost. they conveniently leave chit like this out of their little DVSs.
then when the NWO came out, that's when they started blowing the wwf out the water.

and yes, the old wcw shows before then generally did better ratings. they weren't some upstart company like TNA. and we can take it back to the nwa days. you ever heard of black Saturday? all this retrospective chit coming from Connecticut and they never mention this at all.

they just didn't do good business like the wwf. until they gave bischoff the wheel.

like I said, comparing TNA to wcw & wwf in terms of companies is ridiculous. different times/different situations. .
