My issue is that the low end barbers who used to rely on volume, a quick in and out, are now turning into bytches and trying to 'upscale' their business and clientele. Not everyone is meant to be a high end barber and not everyone needs a high end cut every 2 to 3 week. I'm happy to account for inflation and give someone $30 all in. Feels like haircuts went from being $10,15,20 to $50 in a very short span of time. Over the last 15 years.
I'm all for brothers making money but it's not exactly a high skill profession with high barriers of entry, especially for men's hair. It's not hard to run a line up and a fade. On top of all this it's a profession where a tip is religiously expected and a lot take cash only so they don't report their income. Making $70k and not paying taxes is like making $100k and paying taxes. If haircuts in my city go $60-$70, I'm not tipping no more or cutting my own shyt.

this is the issue. It ran up from $10-15 cuts 15 years or so ago, to $50+, like triple the price in less than 15 years...
And like
@seymour cake just said they coming with these packages nobody asked for, like since when is the line by itself $20-25, then a regular Caesar or light fade takes it up to $50?
I ain't mad at nikkas getting money either, but make it make sense. It absolutely ain't a high skill profession and these mf's be on all kinda extracurricular shyt when they cutting you up...
I got the inflation thing to, so $30 is reasonable, but anything over that for a regular cut, is bullshyt. And it's ALOT of these mf's, I'd say most, charging well over $30 now. Out my rotation only the old man in Fayetteville is under that. Everybody else is $40 plus now...
Also on the sneak, the QUALITY and SKILL of these nikkas is worse now, on aggregate. They not nice the way I feel like they were in the past, where a nikka be super crisp every time I leave the chair. Nowadays, I can get hooked up good but it seems like most the time the taper is a little off on one side, or the line is slightly uneven, or they didn't trim the beard right, etc. These nikkas have gotten more expensive, but more catty and less skilled...
And again don't talk to me while you cutting me up, I don't wanna talk. Just do your job and get me outta here
