The problem with her is that she has pop appeal but at the same time has a dark rooted underground sound to her music "notably her mixtapes" thats very gravitating & beautiful so her fanbase is very conflicting & 2 sided

I guess youll thirsty for her to become a major pop star because she hella cute but i kinda think she feels more comfortable in the basement with candles & weed & doing moody dark underground care free r&b music & its a strong market for that
I'm not trashing her at all, I just think she could be an even more popular singer than she is. She has the potential and talent to be up there with the current female singers of today.
But I'll have to check out more of her music to see what you saying cause I've just recently started checking out only a couple of her songs.

she just dont have that it factor nor that motivation to wanna be the best at her craft. If you look at rihanna and beyonce (i know, really high profile examples, but if she was serious shed wanna be like them) they have like a kobe mentality when it comes to their music and also it feels very relatable. Tinashe really just seem like a pretty cali girl who aint really been through anything, she also don't seem like she controlling anything i also think thats a problem she dont seem like she direct shyt about her career, also her head cacs running up in her a couple more times before dumping her
cause female pop singers barely control their careers, they gotta submit to the industry and as a result they end up tacky as hellHonestly, outside of Beyonce and Rihanna I don't hear any music from any other female artist on a mainstream level on urban radio
What lane is she in tho? The 1st song I heard from her was that joint with SchoolBoy Q and it was very ratchet and vulgur with references to drugs and alcohol. If she wants to be taken serious, she needs to stay away from that type of content imo.

Yep. I don't get the hype with her, no hating either because I have a cousin that looks like her, but to me she's cute and has some sex appeal when she wants to, but the finest? I don't agree. I could be biased because I don't find that bodytype attractive(the upside triangle body).
As for as singing, she's okay--I've never heard a track where she's actually shown she can really sing. She's like a black Brittany spears without the talent as a show performer and the popularity. Lets be honest, Brittany could not really sing, but she was pretty, could put on a good show, and had came out at the right time. Tinashe is an era where just being cute and carrying a tune isn't enough. There are plenty of R&B and pop artists that are out right now that sound similar to Tinashe. Since she isn't overally sexually, or uniquely beautiful, physically she doesn't stand out which is partially why the response to her has been underwhelming. IMO she's missing is something that distinguishes her as an artist, a style, personality, etc. Look at Rihanna for instance--she has an edgy style, and conveys that in her music as well, so she does well. The other issue for Tinashe is that her music is more pop like and doesn't stand out enough, it's not catchy enough, memorable, etc. she's average as a performer and dancer so that doesn't help.

Problem with Tinashe is the kind of music she does well isn't going to propel her up the charts. Maybe she should just focus on her lane and stop trying to be the next Beyoncé.
When she does work with Mustard or Metro she can make low level hits but it really isn't music that she even sounds comfortable making. Isn't she from some small town somewhere.
