What this thread is turning into, as both men killed wrestling, with their constant backstage politicking, and never being able to truly "go over" them, except Haitch/HBK for Cena. They both go by the same playbook, it's just Cena wins by volume. That's all. At least HHH does vary his character a bit (corporate H, cuckold H, "King H", face revenge H).
Each time you beat either one, there's some fukkery involved so the performer can't really take the ball and run with it (double burial of Punk after beating Cena with unproven AT ALL Del Rio immediately after defending against Cena to win the feud unanimously, THEN jobbing to H in playing the heel role immediately after transcending Cena as number one face, or 1b-all the fukkery Daniel Bryan went through with Orton's cash in, the SHEER HELL Rock was put through, then Jericho, edit: and King Kurt, in Haitch's era).
So all of this talk about buy rates is skewed, as people bought to see the face or heel beat either one of them, so avg. buy rates should be counted. I would guess Haitch beats Cena here, for the sheer amount of money flowing in through the boom period, that Haitch killed. Haitch is a better in ring wrestler as well. Haitch has better feuds, but underwhelming matches to end them. Cena is just level. Cena is just volume.
Cena also was primarily responsible for breaking WWE's main profit model: PPV. WWE saw the writing on the wall that people weren't going to continue to pay 60 bucks just to see Cena overcome the odds, and wanted to trap parents by just paying 9.99 so their kiddies can enjoy their idol...period. His initial feuds after the Network launch reflected that.
I could go on, but I'll do it in another post. Cena is simply better by the number of HOF's he was able to go over.
