I said what I said.

He the closest thing......
Producer
Composer (already has credits for original scores and stuff)
Writer
Rapper
Engineer

Can sample with the best of em, but can also put together his own new melodies and sounds.

should I continue?
The only knock (if this is one) is that to my knowledge, he doesn't actually play any actual instruments.

don't worry, folks will appreciate him, well after his best work, JUST LIKE THEY DID CURTIS

Curtis Mayfield is my favorite artist of all time and that's a foul comparison.

Notice the (not so) fine print please; I said he's the closest thing, and the whole discussion was on who might be this generation's Curtis Mayfield
The discussion was never even about who stacks up to, or is better than Curtis Mayfield

There's room for both concepts in your head, you gotta relax

I at least wanted to give this a try. Watched the first 20mins of it & it was terrible. Shut that shyt off & I rarely not watch movies in their entirety

It was bad. I didn't like it at all. Superfly shouldn't have ever been touched.

That Trevor guy can't carry a movie like that alone by himself. To me, he's a supporting actor. He doesn't have any base in his voice and he's just a tall weenie boy.

ATL, but rasied in DMV
Ron Isley and the Isley Brothers are one of the best. Not exactly Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions back in the day, but Ron Isley still pumps. He was able to adjust to every decade since the early 60's. He even got a big hit out now. His recent duets over the last 10 or 15 years where also off the charts. I know no other vocalist that can do this like him. He can still take his Isley Brothers style, and adjust with any modern style or genre, and still record a smash hit. Although he's popular, I think he has been very underrated. But I do remember back in that 70's, when they didn't sound to well live. But not too many groups did, including the Ohio Players. But technology changed that.
