Well in the first post I did say "and this isn't even half of the classic material he's produced" :shaq2:

But here are some of Sermon's best produced Redman songs

top 20, he fell off so hard after 99 tho. alot of his newer stuff is unlistenable

From his co producing with Parrish back in 88' until 92', then his solo production work from 93' until like 04' Erick was doing his then. When EPMD broke up he was producing for himself, Redman, Keith Murray and various other artists, especially with remixes etc. That's a lot of music over the course of many years.

Plus he released his biggest solo single after 99', which was "Music" in 01'. :stopitslime:

he fell off after 99, i didnt say he wasnt active. almost everything he did after that was terrible

"Music" (album and single) was released in 2001 and was one of the best singles to ever be released in the new millenium. It's just one of those undeniable classic records. To use one of Barry White's terms, it has "Staying Power". Sermon was still doing his thing after 99', because not only was the single "Music" was great but the album was as well:

I'd even say "Music" is best single to be released by a producer/rapper in the 2000's. And yes, I do believe that. The way Erick sampled Marvin for that joint and added those funky a$$ bass lines was excellent. In fact, it's one of my favorite samples ever used in a Hip Hop song.

This is very good interview he did with Sway talking about the song "Music" and how it came about. He also performs some of it:

I wouldn't put him over DJ quik, not even close actually

Oh yeah? Well here's Quik's take on Erick Sermon :mjpls:

“And Erick Sermon is one of the reasons I'm even in this business. Not because of the album Strictly Business and the 12” that came after that, which is to me, one of the greatest-sounding 12”s of all time, 'So Whatcha Saying.' Not just because of those records.

"When I went on my first tour, I supported them in some cities. And hanging out with him and Parrish, they taught me how to be frugal, how to keep it business, how to save for taxes. And even though I wasn't the kind of guy that would be out there spending $30,000 to $40,000 every two days on the road, they told me that I had to account for that sh*t.

"They taught me to get an accountant, they taught me to be wise, with taxes and all that sh*t. I owe a great debt of gratitude to Erick Sermon, not just for calling me for that record, but just the game that he shared with me back then. Being as smart as he is. What a genius. Long live Erick Sermon.”
