Africans accuse African Americans of "appropriating" their culture (legitimate criticism?)

Im sorry man, but not if you aren't doing it today..

If a big African American Rock&roll star was to appear next year, do you know what they are going to say?

"Wow this guy is a phenomenom" .. "This is the biggest AA rock star since Jimi Hendrix!" etc etc

It will NOT be looked upon as business as usual

These are the facts my friend.. But keep living in whatever fantasy world you and 'pointer' want to put yourselves in, but its not reality.

Some Africans and Islanders get very agitated when African Americans affirm their ethnic identity in the same manner that a White person would and I always wondered why that occurs.

And by saying Whites stole AA culture, you are proving my point. Who has a better case in 2015 to cry about appropriation yet you'd be hard pressed to find an AA mad about another group of Black people coopting our culture which is fine but it has to be reciprocated.

I take it as a compliment that globally people vibe with my culture, so much so that they want to claim it. Thats Ancient Egyptian type shyt.

You got picked on when you were 15 for your culture and resent us? Well you sold us to the devil who stripped us of anything........who has a better case for dumb resentment?

You're talking about to the general white consumer. To the black consumer, Rock never left

Im not saying there are NO black rock artist...
But there are far far more white ones..

And you all are arguing for the 5% that are black and claiming that it's "your culture. This is just complete nonsense

So ragtime isn't black music now because the ragtime festivals are basically held/enjoyed by white people?

Good shyt. but I listened to a lot of alternative rock in the glory days of the 90s... And I feel like it's not so much "Aframs" misappropriated, but the enitre genre and sound is being wiped away.. Whats in that video is straight

Point noted.... But for me "culture is something you don't let go of..

R&B was black and IS black
Hip Hop was black and IS black

The landscape of rock and this Rag time stuff is totally different.. AA should have taught more of there children this and taken them to rock concerts, instead of teaching them how to twerk and be codeine craaazy...

The culture is not defined by one person. Just because Prince does rock in a few songs do not mean its "black culture"

So African hatred of other Africans is the result of white supremacy too? You have certain African ethnic groups who hate /dislike other African ethnic groups

Ive heard many east african horners say some pretty racist , bad things about west africans......is that a result of white supremacy also?

some of it,yes

Except their are AA expats all over Africa

Not even close. AAs aren't all over like that.

Your average African has a far better chance of meeting a white person or an Asian than an AA. Very likely he/ she will never interact with an AA in his / her life in person, unless it's in the U.S.

Most africans know about AAs via tv or the Internet.

Find the full docu though because because it touched on Rock in general.

yes and no

R&B was black and IS black
Hip Hop was black and IS black

yes but these styles are made and enjoyed by everyone

The landscape of rock and this Rag time stuff is totally different..

Both are black genres that have more whites in them now..ragtime is just older

AA should have taught more of there children this and taken them to rock concerts,

The people that played rock were marketed as soul/funk..black people know who they are

The culture is not defined by one person. Just because Prince does rock in a few songs do not mean its "black culture"

Prince isn't the only one..I gave you historical context already and modern musicians. Drake's uncle from Sly Stone played a Soul/Funk/Rock hybrid also

he's never mentioned as Rock though

AAs need to realize the Africa they idealize doesnt exist anymore. People in Africa are on twitter, and driving cars now. Americans want to believe Africans are still in tribes, and doing chants and shyt

Focus on your own culture

Considering that we are only 44 million strong and live across a vast ocean, I think its unfair to compare us to Asians and Europeans who live much closer to the continent.
