Norfeast groovin…
Boosie my say some of the shyt sometimes but his actions speak louder. How you gonna say don't sell drugs or have a gun and then get arrested for it.

Some people are just fukked up and have to learn the hard way. He paid his debt to society, why continue to beat him over the head for it?

And I've noticed that more and more positive images have been gradually exposed. I'm thinkin of the scientist that always discusses drugs(His name escapes me) and the other professor/scientist at Berkeley that was gettin hemmed up by Monsanto and those are good examples of course Neil daGrasse Tyson, and there are more. If you look for it you actually see lots of intelligent black people contributing to society and teaching a thing or two. The issue is that people don't seek that type of stuff. The other day on al Jazeera there was a discussion about diabetes in America and the country's diet and there was a black doctor on the show dropping nothing but facts. All I'm sayin is why are we gettin mad at an imbalance that Boosie had no hand in creating? Why don't more up in arms black people invest in upstart channels so they can control the narrative rather than beggin up and down for someone else to do it when they've shown no real desire to do so?

it's beginning but for it to be part of the culture it needs to be more pervasive
we need more icons and a diversity of icons

Stupid comment. People support black achievement and making a big deal about fans celebrating the release of a rapper is total divisiveness. That's why coli "militants" are some funny backwards mafukkas misusing words like c00n and gettin duped into hatin other black people. The intentions are good but its no understanding of context. Boosie encourages people like Tunde to do what he did, if you listened to the music you'd know but ignorance is easier I understand.

Boosie contributes virtually nothing to society and society would probably be better without him. It's funny how so-called musicians don't inspire other groups around the world to succeed in academics. Rap has nothing to do with academics. The ingredients necessary to suceed in academics aren't encapsulated in rap music. Academic success necessitates strong impulse control, long attention span and compliance. Rap is filled with people who lack these things and these people encourage what they are. I'm not saying one can't find inspiration in rappers, but blacks don't need them and great research has nothing to do with Boosie.

I'm glad to see this young Black Youth doing so well, and he has a bright future ahead of him. I would feel much better when the African American male graduation rate hits 75%. That being said I hope this story inspires just 100 young black men to do better and work towards galvanizing their education.

Boosie is a criminal and an idiot. He contributes virtually nothing to society and society would probably be better without him. Blacks don't need any rappers. We would be better off with scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs and geniuses.

What's worse is that we as a collective (of far too many of us), celebrated his release as if he were a political prisoner or something of the sort.

As excited as I am for this brothers accomplishment, it hurts me that he's the exception instead of the norm. I actually look forward to the day where stories like these are no longer reported, because that's just what we do. I look forward to where brothers like him tell people what his GPA is and they go :ehh: instead of :usure:. For Christ sakes homey has to carry a screenshot of his grades and sat score just to show he ain't lying. That just hurts me in some weird way.
he's an exception from the norm for human beings in general. It's rare that a young person has a combination of everything needed to be successful at both academics and athletics, just the combination of intelligence, maturity, drive, work ethic etc is rare. Some kids will be super smart but not really care to apply themselves. I mean, literally the smartest person I personally know is statistically speaking probably not even close to as smart (or the potential at least) as this kid. It is fukked up that people judge him on his appearance but thats life. He plays multiple instruments, sports, and is able to accomplish all that academically? :damn: so impressive. he also seems like a cool dude, not some dorky unsociable type.

He could have done better if he went to charter school.

#twisfail

this is the second time this story has been posted and for some reason people try to use it against me

first of all i was the first one that posted this story and other stories like it, this particular story is the last post in my thread http://www.thecoli.com/threads/five-ivy-league-colleges-vie-for-dc-student.201681/ this story was the last one

i wholeheartedly join the celebration of this dude but the fact that we need to celebrate this points to the larger problem that we dont need one or two people excelling, we need a whole movement and cultural shift to make people like this guy "normal" in the black community

third of all, actually a lot of charter schools and private schools have done a good job of producing college ready kids and they do it consistently, not sporadically and we should expand charters and vouchers to expand choices for parents and provide entrepreneurial opportunities for black educators and also so that eventually the public school system will be eliminated

Same here. But he is going to be in for some serious culture shock when gets to those Ivy league schools and notices he is the only one like himself there. He will be entering a different reality when he becomes a freshman.

To know is one thing...but to experience that shyt is a totally different experience. I thought I was pretty smart when I was leaving high school (inner city) to the University of Michigan....different worlds.

Word.

I am not impressed with high GPAs because I know schools cook their grades on a frquent basis or offer a program of courses where ridiculous grades are easily made but you cant bullshyt a special standardized test score. 2100 is probably the average at UCLA in STEM Majors. Might even be below average and that is a public school. This kid won't event be competitive at MIT ,CalTech or HYP...
