On one hand I'm for keeping the ban. College admissions should be blind to race when every other consideration is merit/accomplishment-based. Otherwise you get the people responsible for admissions basically paying attention to a diversity quota when making selections, just to be able to say 'Come to our school we're all about that diversity' (http://www.npr.org/2013/12/29/25776...ful-than-reality-beware-that-college-brochure). It all just takes away from what the process should be.
On the other hand, can't be mad at minorities having a better shot at going further in life with that better education than we would've gotten otherwise. I mean the article looks at demographics in relation to enrollment numbers. Well the discrepancy can be partially attributed to education inequality BEFORE college (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/21/us/school-data-finds-pattern-of-inequality-along-racial-lines.html). Quality of HS/teachers/curriculum obviously matters and minorities are on the short end right now. So for us to have that better opportunity in and after college is great. Sometimes that's all you need. Just gotta take advantage of it
