If I'm not mistaken, the Rhodes match is what everyone was talking about days later.
Rhodes match was great (I rewatched it)
But that’s not what the pre-show hype was about. All eyes were on if Moxley was going to show up.

But hogan and savage in the 90s was called dinosaurs in their 40s
HbK came back at 36 and was called an old man
I don't think they've mastered the art of hype, Timing was a HUGE factor.
You have to admit that a huge part of Double or Nothing was the "arrival" of Jon Moxley...but Double or Nothing was announced before he left the WWE. Had he not left WWE to join AEW, then what is the biggest news coming out of the PPV?
A lot of fan interest was to see IF Moxley would show up. I think if Ambrose stays in WWE, then this pay per view is still successful, but not nearly as hyped
the hype was there for AEW long before moxley even left the WWE.
the hype is prolly the reason why moxley jumped ship in the first place.
I didn't know I was in competition with anyone, just stating what my opinion was
It would've been amazing if Punk showed up too. I bring up Moxley because CLEARLY as someone who just exited WWE, there was more buzz around him at the time and what he would do.
regardless, outside of the elite, Jericho, and Dustin Rhodes, most of the people on the card are relatively unknown to the average WWE centric wrestling fan. That's all I was saying I don't think they "mastered" the art of hype, I think they got a huge boost by Moxley's release.
but who am I?
