ive been meaning to make this thread for months, but now that they finally have a show in the books, i definitely have the green light.
they have successfully created the allusion that theyre the cool show, the people's promotion & every wrestling fan's dream.
now they have locked down millions of rabid loyal followers and are even getting WWE Plantation marks to peep over the fence. some have downright hopped over it.
ALL OF THIS BEFORE THEY EVEN DID A SHOW.
they also have the court of public opinion in their favor to the point where they are pretty much devoid of criticism. if this was a WCW or TNA show, the internet would have a field-day and would be dismissing their product, saying that theyre not gonna watch it again. i mean really? a washed-up jim ross taking lead in commentary. a washed-up heel Jericho main-eventing and getting a clean win over your biggest star on the first show. and then your star proceeds to get destroyed by a WWE star who just got trashed by nia jax about a month ago.
and now they've backed themselves into a corner where the first champion will either be a washed glorified midcarder in Jericho, or a guy whos not quite ready in hangman page. man, there better be some twist where they insert a 3rd party into that chip match.
don't get it twisted. the show was great. but if we're being real, it wasn't any better than the ppvs that impact puts out. wrestling-wise, impact's shows are def better, but to AEW's credit, they make a better spectacle out of their chit.
