ive been meaning to make this thread for months, but now that they finally have a show in the books, i definitely have the green light.

they have successfully created the allusion that theyre the cool show, the people's promotion & every wrestling fan's dream.
now they have locked down millions of rabid loyal followers and are even getting WWE Plantation marks to peep over the fence. some have downright hopped over it.
ALL OF THIS BEFORE THEY EVEN DID A SHOW.

they also have the court of public opinion in their favor to the point where they are pretty much devoid of criticism. if this was a WCW or TNA show, the internet would have a field-day and would be dismissing their product, saying that theyre not gonna watch it again. i mean really? a washed-up jim ross taking lead in commentary. a washed-up heel Jericho main-eventing and getting a clean win over your biggest star on the first show. and then your star proceeds to get destroyed by a WWE star who just got trashed by nia jax about a month ago.

and now they've backed themselves into a corner where the first champion will either be a washed glorified midcarder in Jericho, or a guy whos not quite ready in hangman page. man, there better be some twist where they insert a 3rd party into that chip match.

don't get it twisted. the show was great. but if we're being real, it wasn't any better than the ppvs that impact puts out. wrestling-wise, impact's shows are def better, but to AEW's credit, they make a better spectacle out of their chit.

I'm really interested in the outcome of this. Like I mentioned in the AEW DoN thread, I wish some of the talent that signed with WWE would have waited a bit and signed with AEW. Specifically Lashley and Shane Strickland.

I doubt CM Punk is coming back but he would be a great surprise.

Another thing I was thinking about last night, it will be interesting if AEW develops a working relationship with NJPW. They could do cross promotional events and have talent appear on both events/shows.

TNA would get shytted on because they have a legacy of being a fukking GARBAGE company who have dropped the ball time and time again.

AEW get a pass because they're fresh, actually have a real money behind them, a TV deal that is bigger than whatever redneck bullshyt TNA and besides Jericho, are being built around talent that aren't just WWE names.

And that washed up heel Jericho is about to main event NJPW's second biggest show of the year. He must be doing something right.

And how did Omega get "destroyed" you fukking drama queen?

I'm already here. Going at Jericho is the absolute wrong take to have. He is 50-years old but he is also one of the few wrestlers who has crossed into mainstream popularity over the last 20 years and he has the ability to reinvent himself. He brings a lot more to the table than just in-ring.. he penned a lot of stories in WWE that got over. He penned "The List" story line with Kevin Owens. He is a huge get creatively and he has platforms where he can speak on all things AEW and get the word out there.

It's not the same as TNA bringing in Nash and Hall or these guys looking for a quick payday. Jericho is bringing way more to the table then you are giving him credit for.

It's not an issue to bring in Jericho or even Moxley.. those signings make sense. They already have Omega and the Young Bucks guys who are over who did not make their name in WCW/WWE.. Another thing where TNA had Styles and Samoa Joe and they ended up doing nothing with them. AEW is actually going to do something with the guys who aren't former WWE talents.

Your comparisons are terrible

Yeah, he didn't. He lost to Jericho who is a legend in a hard fought contest, he had beaten Jericho in their first encounter which commentary alluded to. Also, when Moxley tried to give him the dirty deeds he fought him off for a while and they brawled into the crowd.. showing that Omega is a guy that is difficult to keep down. He was absolutely protected.

Strickland passed on AEW tho.

I think its only a matter of time before NJPW ditches ROH for AEW.

BULLCHIT.

- TNA was literally being chitted on from day one. WWE fans dismissed them because they didn't want there to be another big company. ROH/indie fans hated them for pulling "their" wrestlers. basically what AEW is now, except they have more likeable owners. most fans don't like jarrett, and these lifelong virgins definitely hated the idea of a female owner.

- and they didn't start bringing in WWE names like that until years later. so you can toss that argument as well.

- Jericho is a hustler. that's what hes doing right. and lets not sit here & pretend that NJPW doesn't love to throw American names(yea i know hes Canadian) into big matches.

and watch your mouth.

They had All In last year and have literally been promoting their brand on the YouTube channel every week. Their marketing thru all this has been consistent. They are the cool show just based on wwe giving us the same recycled bullshyt every week. Plus they have working relationships with other promotions so the possibilities are endless for them. Not like wwe who are stuck within their own realm of foolishness. People just got tired of it. I know I had a period during like the ruthless aggression era where I stopped watching and now I really only watch ppv. Maybe one day they'll get their mojo back but for now it seems like they stagnant. And that's what makes aew seem interesting, because it's something new. They got stars that aren't as big or popular to the general audience but built right, they will be. Plus the internet and industry has changed a lot since those old wcw days so it's not like a comparison can even be made.

Jericho is not mainstream popular like that and he was never a draw AT ALL.
don't get it twisted, I have no problem with Jericho being signed, or even being used as an upper-midcarder. but you got him main eventing? the 1st show at that? and going over clean AS A HEEL over your top guy?

hell yea, if youre gonna do all that, you might as well bring in the dudes that just want a check. they'll at least draw more viewers. people who go crazy are the Jericho are the types that were gonna support AEW regardless.

I didn't read your whole post. after the way you entered this thread, I don't respect anything you have to say in it enough to read a long-winded post from you.
