That's a 1994 question. Back then, a wrestling game without a creation suite was understandable. In 2023, releasing a wrestling game without a creation suite is a horrible design choice that robs the fans of a now-standard feature.
The devs are selling an incomplete game at full retail and using "it's an arcade game, bro!" as an excuse.
Again, they are building this game from the ground up. I think those are valid criticisms if this was like the second or third version of this game but it's the first. I don't know why some of you are setting the bar so high for this game knowing what it is.

Also, Capcom sells an "incomplete game" every time they put out a new Street Fighter. I'm not even bothering copping SF6 because I know in 6 months there will be a "Super Street Fighter 6" with all the bullshyt that should've been in the game in the first place :heh:

Yukes & AKI have made wrestling video games since the 1990's, and they have both worked on the biggest wrestling franchises prior to 2K taking over. They are two experienced companies, not some indy developers who don't know any better. In fact, they helped pioneer creation suites in wrestling games. They helped establish the standard. They created the bar.
And since you moved the goalposts outside of what we should expect from WRESTLING games, then I'll see your argument & raise you one. If I'm getting a house built from "the ground up", I still expect working plumbing and modern amenities. Just because Fight Forever is a new IP, that still doesn't mean that it should be sold AT FULL RETAIL without features that.have been standard for over two decades.

Breh I dunno that SF6 slaps like a MOFO and feels more complete than 80 percent of the games that came out this year.

  • More single player content (World Tour)
  • A battle hub where brehs can fight, chill, and play old ass Capcom games
  • Typical Arcade mode and rank
:hubie:This is coming from a breh that got converted on Capcom running shyt lately.

Breh you need to jump on this shyt. I been getting my ass whooped, but that's okay because the game is pretty legit and brought back my love for fighting games. Like some dude said on the YouTube comments, this is Capcom's magnum opus from the soundtrack, the accessibility (modern controls), and the ability to have a full blown roster compared to SFV which felt like a demo with a roster.

Probably my GOTY on some real shyt. Like I'm legit thinking of copping a arcade stick so I can get my rank up.

I can be wrong, but they haven't made a wrestling game in years. They have to play catch up to build their stuff on the new platforms. It takes time to do it. They're turning this game into a retail product in 2 years. You're basically complaining about wanting a Mercedes when you know they're giving you a Honda. All I'm saying is that your expectations are too high for knowing what we do about the game development.

And I already said earlier in the thread the game was overpriced for what it is. It should be going for $40 at most.

There's nothing to catch up on. All ot would've taken was for somebody in a dev meeting to say "hey guys, we have a story mode & minigames on the whiteboard, but where are the caws?" In fact, creating & including minigames negate the whole "from the ground up" argument because that's something that is a rarity in wrestling games, including a creation suite should be relatively simple by comparison.
Also, I'm not comaining about wanting a Mercedes & getting a Honda. My issue is the Honda dealer trying to charge me Mercedes sticker price for a used hatchback Civic.
The one thing that we agree on is that this game should be released as a budget game. Charging more than $30-$40 for what we're getting is a ripoff.

I'm curious, whats your background in game development? Because from an engineering perspective, I hear people talk like you are a lot in my job without knowing how much effort it takes to do something. They probably decided to limit the CAW/mods to release the game sooner and made a decision to include the mini game stuff because it's something they could do faster than the CAW system. If they waited longer to accommodate the CAW stuff, the game would lose even more money.

I'm curious, too. What does my background in game development have to do with me knowing when I'm being overcharged for an incomplete product?
If I don't have experience in neurosurgery, does that mean that I wouldn't be able to recognize malpractice?
If I don't have experience in textiles, does that mean that I can't recognize poor craftsmanship in the suit that I just bought?
As a consumer, I don't care what the rationale was for not including caws, or any other standard feature. My concern is that I'm being charged full retail price for something that is not a triple A tier game.

The way people are defending this games shortcomings is so funny

:bryan:

it’s perfectly fine to be like damn, the lack of a decent creation suite is a letdown but I’m still buying the game.. That’s where I’m at with it.

Ain’t gotta come with all the extra stuff about game development and shyt. Lol nikkas passionately defending some shyt they ain’t touched yet. I’m buying this shyt no matter what brehs simply because I wanna play an AEW branded game. Ain’t gotta shoot them bail every step of the way.

Because you're saying that creating a CAW system based on something they built 10+ years ago for this new generation is easy :snoop:

I never said that at all. Don't alter my words just so you can throw a smiley at me.
I said that CAWs are standard in wrestling games.

You literally said...

It's clear to me that you're just complaining to complain, so I'll just let you be.

How is me saying that somebody asking about a feature in a devs meeting the same as me saying that implementing the feature was easy?
Oh, wait. I just saw your last sentence. That post was your Hail Mary to get out of this conversation. My bad, carry on. You go your way, and I'll go mine. If you're Black, have an enjoyable Juneteenth. God bless.
