It was refreshing compared to what was a fukking horrible period of WWE Lol.

And you prove my point. Dudes got their alternative, but somewhere down the road the fans turned back to their usual bytching selves. Trips took over the E and everyone acted like it was heaven coming down to save them.

I think Trips is doing a solid job, but there’s nothing he’s doing that makes me want to tune back in to the weekly shows. It reminds me of what we’re currently talking about with wanting something different.

And you prove my point.

I never said you were wrong Lol. Though I do think you're forgetting some of the shyt that people were liking during those two years. 2021 was AEW's peak to this point but it was also the beginning of what people are disliking about the product now...

That was the start of the overemphasis on "Dream Matches" and it was the start of Tony Khan's weird ass booking and how they'd put on long ass predictable matches on the weekly TV... sleepwalking to the next PPV.

Back when AEW first started there was more of an emphasis on story line development and character development whether it was Jericho and Inner Circle, Darby and Sting, Hangman being an alcoholic, Omega collecting belts, Miro's "God" character, Cody and Dustin, MJF and Jericho, etc.

I think Cody Rhodes likely had a lot to do with balancing things out.

Na, AEW started to go down when Punk got injured the first time in 2021? When his dumbass staged dive. Believe me, I was there and things weren’t the same after that. Then the dummy went off at the presser and made things worse. Bringing him back probably did damage too (remember all the boos he got?).

Last year was arguably their worst year with storylines and booking, but it wasn’t really showing until mid year. 2022 had a moment when it was showing, but they picked back up. Dudes still bytching about storylines and booking this year aren’t paying attention. They’ve improved with angles and stories since the start of the year.

I think they've shown some improvements since the terrible "Devil" angle played out but it will take more than a couple months for the people they lost to care again. It might take a year or two. There were several times throughout my lifetime where WWE lost the trust of the fan base and it always took over a year of consistent booking and some hot angles/stories to get the fans back.

I mean, this year you had Swerve and Joe become main champs. Swerve’s storyline was building since last year. The angle with Christian has been enjoyable, and they even used past storylines to push the feud.

No one wants to give props to the Elite, but they’re doing a good job with their gimmick. And Okada as a heel is fukkin good.

Good chance Mone is gonna be champ and shine even more. Toni Storm is great with her gimmick.

there’s been more positives this year than last and we’re barely hitting the half-year. I don’t know what these marks want. :dwillhuh:

Neither do they Lol... we all know a lot of wrestling fans are fickle as fukk.. but here's the issue. AEW's writing, while it's been better of late, I will grant you that.. it's not comparable to the best writing that WWE has produced over the same timeframe and so AEW is going to get nitpicked whether it's fair or unfair.

I know you don't think Triple H has done anything "special" as you said, but I disagree with that. I won't go into everything because I think it's more likely that Heyman and Roman (with assistance from The Rock/Gewirtz later on) have written out the whole Bloodline saga but man.. that's a story line that probably only happens once every ten years so it's problematic for AEW to be compared to that.

I’m really :dwillhuh: that dudes praise the first 2 years of AEW when it was hit or miss to the fullest, especially the first year.

It wasn’t until 2021when they hit the gas. Before that, Omega’s reign and Page’s rise were the only things worth noting. Brodie Lee was shining, but then he passed away.
People like to judge against the competition at the time. 2023 AEW dropped into 2019 would be looked on a whole lot more favorably because of how much of a cesspool WWE was at the time.

But I’ve been saying the Bloodline wasn’t his creation. Trips just ran with it. And Trips knows the biz so he couldn’t fukk it up. Plus let’s not forget they almost fukked up Cody’s story this year. They lucked in with finding the right audible.

What ORIGINAL idea has Trips done to stand out from established storylines? His NXT callups prior to these ones flopped (don’t forget the random debut he gave them like TK did and expected fans to know them). Bron Breaker wrestling jobbers instead of getting a Brock like debut push. Melo just there. I know it’s early for those 2, but they shoulda came out hot.

This goes back to fans wanting an alternative. For years dudes wanted Vince out. They got it and now that they have a better product they’re acting like it’s the greatest shyt ever.

You're forgetting how well liked Jericho's 'Inner Circle' was. Then you had Darby doin crazy shyt and riding a skateboard to the ring. There was a lot of shyt going on that was more interesting than McMahon's "creative mind" at the time.
I think you're forgetting how terrible the Dark Order was.

I'm a firm believer that most of the credit should go to Heyman/Roman and maybe even The Usos but Hunter letting them run with it and go in depth with it is what led to it being so big... you know Vince was gonna start meddling with that shyt lol.

Also, here's some things that I think Hunter has done well..

-New production crew/camera angles... the shows look way better now

- Made the midcarder titles more important with Gunther and Logan Paul which in turn builds up new main eventers the way they did it in the old days

-Has multiple story lines going on that are blended together, most recently Liv Morgan and Judgment Day and drops Easter Eggs for fans to put the pieces together.

- An emphasis on quality in-ring product, wins/losses mattering and presenting the product as more of s sport.

Now, I do agree with you that Triple H hasn't been perfect. Some of the acts that he's pushing are not over and a lot of them are NXT Black & Gold wrestlers which leads me to believe that he's loyal but he's also stubborn... This could end up being an issue down the line in his creative process.

You’re missing my point, bro. I said he’s done a better job at making the product more enjoyable, but it’s not some good shyt that’s must see tv. There’s nothing going on that makes me want to tune in weekly. Rock and the BL saga was the only thing that kept me checking some of SD leading to Mania.

Guarantee a lot of you acting like it’s great watched this shyt forever; the Cena era, the Pandemic era, the “bytch but still watch” era when NWG started. I haven’t watched the main brand shows consistently since SD was hitting back in 2015/16? It was only last year I started checking for PLEs monthly.

The wrestling, if nothing else, is never gonna be the problem on most nights. But there’s a lot in the way of presentation, certain booking decisions, pacing (tonight being an example), marketing, ect. That needs to be worked on.

That being said, they’ve been around for 5 years, have a TV Deal and developed a very devoted fanbase that’ll tune in no matter what. They already won out by virtue of making it this far
