Today on the ABC After School Special

It was a promising promotion
It was rising quickly in ratings
It gave young guys a shot
It gave under used talent another vehicle
It had known veterans
A rich nepo baby
A tv network
A fan base of neckbeards

But

How did it all come crashing down so quick
What happened?
Who's responsible?
If and how can they recover

Jim Cornette says "It's the drizzling shyts"
Vince Russo says "WTF BRO"
Bret Hart says "It's still better than Goldberg"

Man, shut the fukk up. This is actually a value added thread unlike you pasting news stories about shyt nobody could ever give a fukk about in other people's thread. You contribute ABSOLUTELY nothing positive to this forum, and I welcome these breakdowns of the company over five years, however glowing or dour

I ain't give a C letter grade, because I thought they started out with promise. But alot of the things have been mishandled, and this many years in, the things I give pass for in years 1 and 2 that still happen I can't let slide. I think their booking has gone downhill every year (last year was WOAT), while their talent pool is at it's best, and probably the best they will ever get. Some great matches have lead to that, but ultimately where they are right now booking and storytelling wise just isn't upto snuff for me. Again, I really enjoyed year 1 and 2.

As expected :dame:

You're a terrible person with low esteem with an embarrassment fetish. You're annoyed because we're actually having shared critical conversation rather than fanboy spam.

That's all I gotta say

Omega main evented a show, I think a YouTube show against Joey Janela it was a "Lights Out" Match. I remember it being pretty good and people going wild over it.

The reason I bring this up: AEW has matches like that all the time now. WWE has matches like that all the time. It was a thing because of how God awful WWE was at the time and how refreshing AEW was at the time.

WWE needed better stories and did that. WWE needed better wrestling and did that.

AEW still has the wrestling but they are severely lacking in the department that a lot of casuals watch for. The stories.
The last part I disagree with. Casuals dont watch for stories they watch for moments. If it accompanies a good story all the better but a casual didnt tune into Raw in the 90's because of the entire Austin/McMahon feud or even tell you the finer points of it. But they remember the beer truck, Tyson, being crucified by Undertaker, "It was me, Austin!".

Outside of stories which WWE is only really great in 30% of the time (seriously count how many bonafide classic stories they have and then consider how many decades those choices span) but the ones that do hit, HIT. WWE makes big moments we remember forever, AEW does not and casuals dont watch forgetable shyt, hardcores do.

B- / C +

So much potential and PPVs feel like events to me still.

I got this from R… TK treats booking like I treat my Steam account. I have more games than I could ever hope to play and I abandon games and move on all the time .

Any business review is going to have multiple points of analysis. If youre ever looking at how a business is progressing over a time period its what you do on an executive level. The ones I see here are brief compared to what im used to quarterly.

Plus, we just havin fun outchea

I’m really :dwillhuh: that dudes praise the first 2 years of AEW when it was hit or miss to the fullest, especially the first year.

It wasn’t until 2021when they hit the gas. Before that, Omega’s reign and Page’s rise were the only things worth noting. Brodie Lee was shining, but then he passed away.

You're forgetting how well liked Jericho's 'Inner Circle' was. Then you had Darby doin crazy shyt and riding a skateboard to the ring. There was a lot of shyt going on that was more interesting than McMahon's "creative mind" at the time.

Jericho’s stable was cool and Darby did his thing. I think fans were just starving for something different and got it. That’s the only reason I see people praising that time so much.
