First off, me of all people being a casual is :dead:

But in theory, yeah...in some situations missed 3PA = Long rebound = Easier scoring opportunity

But I just went back through the PBP. 10 of the Bucks 17 made 3s came in the 2nd half when they blew the game open and only two of them were off missed 3s. They actually had more 3s made in transition off turnovers and missed 2 pointers than missed 3s.

I’m not even arguing that going 5-32 is good or that they shouldn’t have put more effort into getting easier shots in the paint. It was a terrible game from OKC. But I’m also being real about it, teams that are hitting a high volume of 3s usually win for a reason. If you’re getting outscored by 30+ points from the 3-pt line it’s an uphill battle to win, I don’t see how that’s a controversial take

THEY WENT 1-17 FROM
THE THREE IN THE FIRST HALF
AND IT WAS A ONE PT GAME AT HALFTIME.

COMMON SENSE SAYS ABANDON
THE THREE AT THAT POINT.

Damn

Steph Curry is gonna get a lot of blame for this btw. Fair or not he influenced a lot of this trash. Of course it's not his fault these other guys lost their minds and only want to shoot 3s and do nothing else
Wasn't steph and the warriors fault. They had 2 of the greatest shooters ever...3 when they added KD...they should have played how the played...shyt even Barnes shoots the 3 at 40% sometimes. It was the Rockets and Morey who said fukk any type of real team building or strategy or tactics we just going to spam 3's so it don't matter if you make more free throws than us get more rebounds than us have less turnovers than us we going to shoot 45 three's and make 17 of them and that will make up the difference for everything else. Other teams saw the Rockets doing it and said oh word i don't actually have to coach or sign players worth a shyt i can just spam 3's and be competitive? Aight bet.

Seems that the NBA average of FGA's per game for teams is about 89 or 90

I would say that no more than half of a team's FGA's should be threes at the most.

That would put the cap around 40-45

THATS WAY TOO HIGH.

35% OF YOUR SHOTS SHOULDNT BE THREES LET ALONE 50%

:dahell:THE LEAGUE CURRENTLY AVERAGES 37.5 THREES PER GM SO WHAT ARE YOU AND THE OTHER
GUY SMOKING WITH THESE "CHANGES"

The Celtics are the only team in the league who take more than 50% of their attempts from 3

I don’t necessarily disagree. It was a poorly coached game by Daigenault, it clearly wasn’t their night and they should’ve adjusted

Do we have stats on how shooting/making more threes (two different things) leads to better results overall? Like how is winning a game correlated to shooting/making more threes in general, or winning a playoff series, or the championship. Obviously talking about rings Boston was way up there, but were Denver, GS, Milwaukee and the Lakers (to talk about the last 5 champs) shooting/making THAT many more threes than their opponents?

I see numerous posts mentioning handchecking. Could someone educate me here? Seems like that would actually increase the number of threes as its harder to manuever or drive now. Guys already taking 30 footers on the regular wouldnt handchecking just add to that because now they are having a harder time getting any closer? What about 3s of kickouts and set up by screens?

everybody keeps saying that they should extend the three-point line even more, but would shortening it to fiba regulation help? I feel like the three ball revolution hasn’t made as big of an impact in international play.

I wouldn't have a problem with all the 3's if defenders weren't handicapped and illegal screens weren't flat out ignored. Bring back hand checking and calling illegal screens and it would probably do a lot to help.

Yea thats another factor. The warriors were the new exciting team so the league let Andrew Bogut run wild with that shyt, refs have never recovered.

IDK WHY HANDCHECKING
IS BEING MENTIONED WHEN THE
WAY YOURE ALLOWED TO GUARD THE 3
HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED WHICH
IS THE ROOT OF ALL OF THIS.

That cap for the 3 pointers needs to be about 8 a quarter. 32 3's in a game is enough. It puts a premium on those shots and reserved for the best shooters on your team. And causes coaches to actually coach and get on players for bad shots. Nothing wrong with mid range. These are suppose to be the best of the best players in the world.

Implement FIBA rules such as making the 3 point line shorter and court slightly less wide so the 3 pointer is easier to defend with less court to cover. The USA vs Serbia Olympics game had a lot of 3 point shooting but it was exciting.

NO....

SHORTENING THE 3P LINE
WONT STOP GUYS FROM PULLING UP
WHERE THE OLD 3P LINE USED TO BE.

Denver & the Lakers were relatively low volume 3P shooting teams IIRC

You can’t stop 3’s when everybody from 1-5 can hit them today, this isn’t the iso post up days of the 90s. Those days are never coming back, big men are too skilled these days and isn’t that what everybody wanted in the first place?
