She didnt say anything wrong but The Coli gonna make it that way.
A lot of people come into threads like this with their responses prepared. She doesnt want to be lumped in with light skinned people she sees herself as brown like many other black people. I don't see the problem with that. If society views and treats you as a black person then you're a black person. Skin tone is irrelevant if you're still considered black.

Yes, and no brown skin persom can look this light even with lighting

How about this...

This is Literally beige

That's lighting and clearly not her natural skin tone. She literally has the sun shining on her in the second pic:mjlol:

How did you go to Google images and cherry pick the photos with light beaming on her? You skipped past the the more naturally lit pictures:stopitslime:

At the beginning of mean streets
She's right. She is literally the same color as Ciara, Sanaa Lathan, Will Smith and Nicki Minaj. Its rare that anyone ever calls these celebs light skinned. Yet they are the same shade as Yara. The real issue is that Yara is biracial, not her skin tone.

This is Yara:

Ciara and other black Celebs

She’s lighter than Ciara, Nicki bleaches and the rest of them are light skinned. It also depends on whether or they been out in the sun cause Yara skin looks tanned in some photos.

Besides cornball militants who scream purity(but are the same shade as me ironically) no one hates Drake for that. There's a dozen reasons before that some my not like Drake. Same applies to Cole, or Joyner Lucas etc

Like I said, mixed race women whether light or dark occupy too much space in the BW collective. Y’all can say what you want and pull every excuse in the book or move the goal posts. Light skinned/mixed race men know their position, mixed race women do not and cry them mixed race tears whenever there are reminded that they are other and have no room to speak on certain things. You guys are disingenuous and keep deflecting as per usual. But what else is new. Dark skin men stay bringing up a foregone era of light skin men being popular but yet y’all aren’t insecure. :ohhh: At least BW have tangible continuous evidence besides referencing 4 decades in the past.

I can count on how one hand how many mixed race men speak for black men... but I have lost count the number of times mixed race women think they can speak on behalf of black Women or the light skin tears of not being black enough start pouring. :mjlol:

Can we stop being disingenuous, there are brown asians and darker Indians that share the same colour spectrum or are even darker than black peoples. And if she was just considered black she would not be casted on the shows she has been considering her lacklustre acting.
Some people calling someone light skin is a catchall term for mixed race people even though mixed race does not equate being light. Just like when people say mixed race hair even though there is no one mixed hair curl type. Nothing more than, nothing less. Light or not doesn’t change the fact that she has a Persian father. Nor has the “look” for the business in which she’s in.

In our community sometimes we fail to differentiate what's consider lightskin, brownskin & darkskin :yeshrug: I've heard sometimes people refer to brownskin as darkskin and sometimes brownskin and lightskin being equal...it's confusing because there's some "brownskin" black people that like to consider themselves darkskin and vice versa.

I don't know her. I'd have to see her in person as people can be made to look lighter on camera/video/pictures.

Not trying to be a "there is no such thing as color, we're all humans" naive dude but really the racial classification people follow, in the United States specifically, is random and arbitrary as hell. The fact that no one can even determine what classifies as "light-skin" is proof enough the shyt is wishy washy as fukk. Like someone else said, in South Africa should would be classified as one thing, then in Brazil something else, and then something else in DR. Folks can't agree in the US what she would classify. Personally, I would just call her Bi-racial to be the most correct if I was forced to choose but shyt, even people find that "problematic".

Race really is a spectrum and I think people unnecessarily try to get themselves into a tizzy trying to classify everyone. How light is light skin? How dark is dark skin? How brown is brown skin?

shyt is very much a social construct that causes more problems than solves sometimes.
