:what::what::what:

The comparison he made was actually spot on. Conchita's views are not problematic with respect to her job performance and there was nothing extreme or controversial about the candidate or his commercial. This is something you left wingers need to understand.......just because somebody disagrees with you does not make them an extremist.

What does it say about liberals that they would boycott a play or jeer an actress because she endorsed a Republican candidate? Now THAT is extremism. A reaction like that only furthers the stereotype about liberals living in bubbles and being intolerant of different views.

Not sure if you're trolling, or you're just incredibly stupid, but the candidate whom she endorsed has views on immigration that are by definition controversial. We dont all have to view matters through the lens of conservative white privilege. Brown people matter now, too, lol.

Yes. Absolutely. Thats of course what Im saying 100%. And per your strawman illogic, you're also suggesting that an employer must retain the services of an individual, and there isnt a behavior or action that would justify firing someone or removing them from a position, even if their activity may damage the bottom line or success of the particular endeavor. The company is obligated to keep he or she employed no matter what.

yeah, so you are saying you think its ok to fire someone because of who they endorse or vote for?

If it's against the mission statement of who she works for I feel they have the right to. Absolutely.

This is serious business. The Tea Party isn't HRW, it's an extremist organization. That's not hyperbole.

hmmmm good point.

Do you toss the baby out with the bathwater though? Again, what woudl your stance be if walmart decided to fire all black people because they dress "that way" and it scares people?

Is this a situation where we let the market do its thing...?

She made it everyone's business when she appeared in a commercial supporting a candidate with extremist views. We're not talking about voting preferences of a private individual. You're being intellectually dishonest here. You are in support of the views of the tea party candidate, and therefore you are twisting yourself into a pretzel by trying to make some sort of claim that the play's organizers dont have a right to remove her from the show even tho her appearance in the aforementioned commercial has angered the target audience, and caused headaches for all involved.

Why are you doing this to yourself? What you just described is illegal, and not at all comparable to what happened to Alonzo. They didnt fire her for being hispanic and "scaring" people.

i'm speaking more on the support of the issue in the first place. HAD they fired this lady for any reason other than her performance people would be in here supporting that action. My question would still be valid in that clearly there are a lot of people OK with firing someone for their beliefs (even if it never actually happened.)

I mean if you can compare a generalized racist stereotype of someones outward appearance to incendiary political statements that someone personal makes when they're a face of a company that goes against what the organization stands for...

Stop being a prick.

@Brown_Pride is a fairly sharp guy, so Im confused why he is conflating Alonzo's removal from the play, with comparisons to clear violations of federal anti-discrimination laws. A better analogy would be if a black man appeared in a commercial in support of the new black panthers party and their rhetoric, while currently being employed by a conservative leaning troupe that was putting on plays in the south

The candidate that she endorsed opposes illegal immigration and believes that America should enforce its immigration laws. By whose definition is that considered controversial? That isn't a controversial view it is actually the mainstream American view on immigration.

Do you live in a liberal bubble?

Idiots like No Bammer Weed consider any viewpoint that they disagree with to be extremist and controversial. Of course only they have the right to determine what is or isn't an extremist view. They would rather silence opposing views by calling them extreme rather than debate their substance.

This is a fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. As a conservative, there is nothing that a liberal could say that would make me want him to lose his job or have his viewpoint silenced. In my opinion, anything that they have to say can be debated rationally and logically. In the end we can agree to disagree. Liberals do not want to debate. They want to punish anyone who dares express a viewpoint that they do not like. It is almost like they have no confidence in their beliefs and are scared to have to defend them.

I just don't understand the mentality of these left wingers. No matter how misinformed and uneducated No Bammer Weed sounds in his posts, never in a million years would I want him to lose his job. How mean spirited would a person have to be to want that?
