It's a shyt precedent to set and support. This whole, "speech is free but the consequences from it are not" argument that keeps rearing it's ugly head is a dangerous ground to be playing on. It's politically and socially advantageous to some right now, when that shyt shifts you'll regret getting on that bandwagon.

The organizers of the play could easily make the case that Conchita's involvement would have likely interfered with the quality and financial potential of the series of performances. They are attempting to solicit revenue from the public through the form of ticket sales, and the targeted group of potential ticket goers find Conchita's views abhorrent. They would have likely responded negatively to her involvement, which could range from boycotting the plays, to jeering her while she is on stage.

The comparison to a private citizen being fired by his or her political views, in which those views arent problematic w/ respect to job performance isnt apt. Bottom line, Conchita starring in a provocative commercial, endorsing a candidate w/ extreme views, put the success of the play in jeopardy.

Im explaining the rationale for removing her. For example, the Duck Dynasty bigot wasnt removed from the show, because the producers and network execs werent financially motivated to fire him. His views are largely aligned with the bigoted fan base who watches that show, and purchases DD merchandise. Im unclear what you mean by "explaining how things work", when we have two different outcomes for two people supporting and expressing extreme views.

The comparison he made was actually spot on. Conchita's views are not problematic with respect to her job performance and there was nothing extreme or controversial about the candidate or his commercial. This is something you left wingers need to understand.......just because somebody disagrees with you does not make them an extremist.

What does it say about liberals that they would boycott a play or jeer an actress because she endorsed a Republican candidate? Now THAT is extremism. A reaction like that only furthers the stereotype about liberals living in bubbles and being intolerant of different views.
