The shots at Obama were unnecessary, but in terms of his stance on Zimmerman being innocent I don't have strong feelings about it one way or another.

Africans and black Caribbeans are our cousins or brothers, that's it, there are a lot of exceptions and shout out to them but the black people in Latin america are too brainwashed to be our cousins

Above politics the biggest thing the black community can do is stop being taken for granted consumers. For example, we consume social media at a 2x rate compared to anyone else (twitter example http://atlantablackstar.com/2013/05...ricans-use-of-twitter-outpacing-other-groups/). Instead of just spending time on sites, if kids learned to code they could make their own Twitters, apps, etc. It's cheaper to learn how to code than to go to college and you will have applied skills that employers want.

As for politics, unless we have a unified lobby that will demand something from these politicians they won't do anything.

Interesting, I'm about to peep this article out, but I have to blame this on the anti-academic culture....

hmm lets unpack this a bit, i certainly agree that people shoudl get more ito coding even before high school, but i would not dismiss college, in the tech field, its possible to succeed without a degree but not having a college degree would put you at a huge disadvantage and also its not just about knowledge, its about networking and nothing can compare to the networking that goes on in college

about politics, politics isnt going to save black people, increasing our knowledge and skills will

so i partially co-sign your post

I was specifically talking about time wasted being a consumer of technology vs learning how to do/create it. I agree that college can be important, but we must also be careful because not all colleges are the same. Going to some third rate or college not focused on what you're majoring in can be an epic waste of money. The connections that are worth something are at the top schools and schools that specialize in a persons area of interest. Networking in general should be taught as a course. Today you have tons of meetup groups, events, etc that people can take advantage of. However, if you don't have the social skills to take advantage of these situations they won't do much.
