You know what else is dope? This thread:ohlawd:

It's been troll free. There has been the odd person state they don't like it, which is absolutely fine (:wtf:) everyone is entitled to their opinion. But then they kept it moving, kept it real and didn't derail the thread.

It's mostly been fellow coli brehs enjoying the comeback of one of the great artists of our time and dropping black excellence out of nowhere.

:salute: to the OP and everyone who participated in the thread, even the ones who ain't like it.

D'Angelo bringing us all together :mjcry:

I decided to listen to all three of his albums in sucession yesterday and the sonical progression from Brown Sugar to Voodoo to Black Messiah is amazing. It really speaks volumes about his artistry that he was able to have each album feel like a sonical continuation and evolution of the previous one despite the long period of time in between in one.

IMO, D'Angelo has the GOAT voice. It takes a lot for a singer to be inaudible at times & it not matter because you're still like :ahh: from his harmonies & vibe.

The #1 factor for me as far as singing goes is whether someone has character and soul (not soul music per se, but soul as in a believable sense of feeling)

In fact, I dislike almost every band who has a "traditionally" good singer. The type of singer that sounds like they won an audition to join the band. That shyt may work for album sales, but for me its :scust:.

No question that D'Angelo has about as much character and soul in his voice as anyone in music history. I don't think you are stretching to say that he is at least in the top tier. He may mumble and stay reserved, but when he lets go and just blasts he is on par with anyone

I definitely agree. Being a technically proficients singer only goes so far because if that connection isn't made when they're singing, then ultimately, the music isn't gonna feel long lasting. D'Angelo's one of the only singers I can think of that can just harmonise on a song and make it good...he doesn't even need lyrics.

if somebody didnt like the album they would have to explain why. this shyt is too textured and well made for simple ass hate. the haters didnt have the intellectual chops to break it down.

Seems very intentional

And honestly I like it that way. I listen to quite a few singers who I cant understand well. Its more about the feeling for me, the lyrics are just a bonus

On the bolded, I would think so, he had to listen to the final product and green light it for pressing.

Co-sign on that, so damn soulful.

This right here, plus how many artist sound good LIVE as they do in the studio. I posted this before and you have appreciate it's just him and his piano, no effects, voice synths, etc.

For Black Messiah, when I heard Really Love I was like :mj:. Mostly due to it being released before in a rough stage, and on the final that intro they added... :ohlawd: :ohlawd:. Literally can not stop playing that, Prayer, Betray My Heart, Back in the Future, Another Life, The Charade...

No one album should have all that BLACKEXCELLENCE POWER:ohlawd:

...with D'Angelo showing EVERYBODY how to do this son:mindblown:

Will a reemerge LBoogie be the next contestant on that Summer Jam Screen
:ohhh:

Don't even play like that :to:

Totally agree, Its just like how Em is one of the most technically proficient MCs we will ever see, but his music sometimes just doesn't connect because it lacks soul and reliability.

Like nikkas ain't never seen a woman so fine you couldn't even make words :wow:

You on point with this analogy. I was about to drop the Jennifer Hudson one, she has great range, tone, clarity. You can hear every word and she can belt out some tunes with the best of them.......however i would rather chug a gallon of lead paint than listen to her sing for an hour. Her music is devoid of soul and her songs are vapid. She is the Jay Cutler of music.

But your Em example summed up my thoughts better :obama:

:mjlol: your a cute young lady...your all so funny to watch at that age

:mjlol: LBoogie consistently shows up to concerts where people pay their hard working money like 2 hours late arguing over money and doesn't apologize when she comes on stage. gives ambiguous ass statements when the topic of a new album comes up...

just give up on her she is a troll...she only about the $$$$
