Am I the only one that has a hard time understanding what this nikka is saying?

I can't be the only one. Need to read lyrics to understand wtf he's saying a lot of times
Seems very intentional

And honestly I like it that way. I listen to quite a few singers who I cant understand well. Its more about the feeling for me, the lyrics are just a bonus

Definitely not alone, I was listening earlier through earphones for the first time like :what::patrice: but given time to get used to, I suppose it will be fine.

I'm not comparing the two in terms of music/quality but it reminds me of how The Weeknd sounds on the original Thursday album/tape. His voice is hard to listen to at times on that.

Breh!

Instant Vintage, that's my shyt right there:banderas:. Not only is it classic, it belongs in my personal collection of best albums point blank. Think it's criminally underrated, sounded like nothing out at the time. His use of instruments on that album, the production, man it was dope and he kept everything so pure. You can apply that last sentence to this album also.

I agree Til Its Done and The Door definitely sound like something from instant vintage. Just imagine, the track People from Instant Vintage but with D'Angelo over it ..... would fit perfectly on this album. Such a powerful track and the message is still relevant today.

Anyway, this album is f*ckin dope. I'm so dam happy:pachaha:

Theres a few albums i've liked a lot this year, but this without doubt is the album of the year for me.

Instant vintage was insane. It just came out of nowhere kinda like this d Angelo album and shock the music industry although it's way underrated and saddiq isn't as talented or respected sometimes as dangelo. I'm just saddiq fan since I saw him playing guitar on lady and later discovered his other music and collaborations with Lucy Pearl,etc....

But yea instant vintage is classic but more commercial sound

Black messiah is classic but more avant guard experimental

Both are honest and powerful lyrically.

Both are a perfect mix of gospel, funk, folk and soul music, or what Saadiq would call "gospeldelic"
I think I need to go listen to both albums again now:whew:

Dude literally gave us black superhero music. Not for marketing purposes or to move units or to say he did it. Literally to put the battery in our backs, put the fists up and to know, when push comes to shove, we can put a foot up that ass too.

shyt makes me want to fight. Makes me want to be great (how can you listen to this and not envy how great he is as an artist, not want it for yourself in whatever you do? It's not even about whether u get there. It's about wanting MORE.). Makes me want to raise kids and teach them what it means to survive and strive despite the struggle.

If he never drops another album he's one of the very greatest to ever do it. I'm just happy, so very happy that so many important points of my life intersect with dudes career. I literally have friends I haven't talked to in 10 years hitting me up to talk about this album. And reminisce about the last time dude collectively punched all our souls square in the face.

Can't even remember the last time the noise between my ears made me this fukking proud of who I am and what I've overcome.

Thank you. :salute::mjcry:
