Either she was a novelty artist, which is what a hot artist at the moment is or she was a legend which implies that she did something legendary. There's no way she's a novelty because novelty acts don't last as long as Aaliyah. She had a career that lasted seven years. That's hardly a novelty act.

I disagree with that, but even then I never said she wasn't a legend. When I said hot I mean popular not necessarily a flash in the plan or a novelty.

Aaliyah was very popular, Just not an icon or a defining artist of her time/era, just like ciara.
