Michelle Yeoh’s interview on Desus & Mero made me watch this. Loved it.

the ether
prob hit them personally. I understood the point of the “conflict” but it didnt resonate for me on a personal level to illicit those emotions, but I can understand how it would hit a lot of people hard, especially Millenials

Breh, I got old friends from college who are going to be a fukking wreck in the theater if they watch this shyt cause it's gonna hit so close to home.

Jamie Lee Curtis was skerry AF in this.

People in the theater was crying and shyt

I knew she was familiar and spent the whole movie trying to figure out who the hell that was.

Raccacc00nie:dead:

I was fukking dying when she starts describing that. Both the story and the meta-humor of knowing people who tell those sorts of stories was killing me.

Masterfully absurd tho just a tab bit long. The scramble over the trophy :russ:

I semi saw it coming because
the moment the trophy appeared I told me friend "that shyt looks phallic as fukk". Little did I know......

Between that scene and the first Jobu Tupaki fight scene, I'm not sure I can take my wife to this movie. She's gonna be too distracted giving me the :usure: face to follow the rest of the plot.

When Waymond told Evelyn that he would have loved to run a laundromat and do taxes with her :mjcry: :wow:

And when he
started describing how he's always been a fighter too just in his own way. :to:

Tiny bit but it really put the movie over the top for me.

At first after watching I didn’t fully comprehend things but after a couple minutes a lot of what was said and the concepts and message hit me hard as fukk.

I'd be very curious to know how well this movie is received by 'general' audiences.

It's obviously been very acclaimed by critics and has had very good word of mouth, but I imagine it's appealing mostly to A24 movie fans, genre fiction buffs, and certainly CBM fans, who are well aware with the concept of multiverses. But I don't think this is something a general audience will really 'get.'

Several people in my theater walked out before the movie was over (especially after the dildo and butt plug fight scenes) and of the ones who stayed, there were audible groans at the end of the movie like :what::wtf::dwillhuh::mindblown:

Also, between this and Turning Red we've had two major movies in the last few months with Asian leads where the family structure is overbearing mother, distant daughter, grandparent who pushes the mother away, and a docile father.

I wonder if there's an Asian version of The Coli somewhere where dudes complain about the portrayals of Asian men in these movies. :lolbron:

To be fair, the role was originally meant for Jackie Chan
