Even if this movie is a success they're gonna have to edit the fukk out of the rest of the series, if they turn them into movies.

It's been damn near 30 years since I read these, so I went on Wikipedia to brush up on the plots....and yeah. This one isn't that bad but the rest are pretty fukking dark. Everything from sex to human sacrifice.

Oh really? Wow.

Yeah man. It's kinda like a darker, more extreme "Harry Potter". The whole series of books (and there's like....8? 9 books, can't remember) all have the same characters or side characters, they just get older. So the subject matter gets more mature. Unless they heavily edit the rest of the series there's really no way to "Disney-fy" most of them.

This is going to look really bad in light of Panther's success. I get the same feeling as the Brad Bird movie Tomorrowland.

Breh this shyt gonna go down like Tim Couch getting picked before McNabb. Or Oden picked before Durant.

Ava fukked up and folks think this movie gonna do numbers cause a little sista is the hero? Man please black panther had a whole movie full of sistas rocking naturals and bald heads (with dark and brown skin I might add) who were heros all in the movie.

They lucky if this movie makes 150 mill and on the real black folks aint really coming out in full force for this. We already got black folks who done seen black panther 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 times and it aint been out but a week.

Its a christian series too, don't know how that will workout if you remove the Christian undertones

i noticed yesterday that the main kid in the movie is the little mo who played Pan in the awful, aptly titled "Pan." He was also in the Christmas movie from last year called "Better Watch Out" which i thought was a legit 1/5 star movie. I hated everything about it. they tried to make a dark Home Alone, and it was just a whiff mostly b/c of how awful that kid is. This movie is gonna be a sack of shyt.

I mean....it is. But a lot of that doesn't become overt until later in the series. The 3rd or 4th book ("Many Waters") if I remember correctly.

I read the book as a kid.
Looking at the trailer nothing popped from the book I had read.

Because it's not really. The basic premise (dad was a scientist, disappeared, his kids go looking for him in different dimensions, etc.) is the same but it wasn't super duper colorful and....I dunno, "happy". It was just a 60's sci-fi YA story.
