I don't know where this misconception has come from that Beal can't defend.

He's a very good defender, the problem is, he's been on a team where he's had to carry a heavy offensive workload, constantly surrounded by below-average defenders, all within a losing culture. He's routinely near the top of distance traveled on defense:

2021: #4 in miles on defense
2020: #4 in miles on defense
2019:: #1 in miles on defense

Now, granted, that in itself doesn't make him a good defender, but it shows that he's willing to exhaust himself on both ends, which in a better environment, with a better defensive system and personnel should translate into him being a net-positive on that end of the floor. Keep in mind, it wasn't too long ago that he and Wall were noted as one of the best defensive backcourts in the league.
We just gotta disagree. The last 2 seasons I’ve seen beal play horribly on def. I can’t see him being a good defender

maybe since he won’t have the scoring load as he dude in Washington do you think he could focus a bit more on defense?
Sure he COULD, but I don’t think it’ll happen

and with Oubre outta there and losing Wiggins in the trade, our wing defense is gonna be ass. Not to mention we still won’t have frontcourt depth. We are still gonna be hot garbage in rebounding

No doubt… I think we should just ride with these picks, keep wigs and strengthen our bench.. we got our 6th man in Poole

Bob Myers himself has said multiple times “we don’t know what we have.”

I’m in the “see what you can get with the 7th pick, and draft with the 14th pick” camp. If that 7 pick is Kuminga, TRADE IMMEDIATELY

Steph/Poole
Beal/Lee/Klay**
O.Porter/Craig
Dray/Ariza/JTA
Looney/Dedmond/Dieng/Chriss

Probably could’ve gotten batum and Gasol last year before klay’s injury

Batum/Winslow/Ariza/T.Craig/O.Porter/Iguodala/D.Green
Dwight/Dedmond/Chris/R.López/C.Zellar/Biyombo/Theis/R.Holmes/Dieng

edit: J.Ennis/ W.Matthews/Hollis/Jefferson
potential Gasol trade

:ohhh: thats a whole lotta of wishful thinking on the FA hype

How many of y’all want to run it back with two rookies and a minute restricted klay :jbhmm:

I'm ok with that. They need to ensure that bridge to the next generation. If they trade Wiggins, Wiseman and 2 picks or 1 pick, then you still have to replace Wiggins production on both ends, Wisemans potential and find a way to get in young talent. Or they can fall off a cliff in 4 years and then we'll be bytching that the front office had no vision while we tank for 3 or 4 years straight

if the goal is not to win shyt while Steph/Draymond backpack a limited roster again, and groom some kids to somehow replace a top 15 player ever + the best defender of his generation ever, then that sounds great.

too much pessimism in the fanbase about trades, not understanding that by making a commitment to competing means you’re in position to get good veteran FA who aren’t banging down the doors of a team that didn’t make the playoffs and has a bunch of kids taking up roster spots.
