Above the fray.

Sounds like Kerr has given up on him in my honest opinion :patrice:

:mjlol: I mean Kerr isn’t wrong honestly

should’ve taken Melo or traded the pick for depth

that’s foul tho. Wiseman at home like, coach said what?:francis:
I’ll say this again.

trading the pick for depth purposes wasn’t there. The packages for that pick just weren’t worth anything (and it still doesn’t solve the fact that long term, this team needs size. Going the cheap route on bigs isn’t working out anymore, not if you have any title aspirations)

Wouldn’t have changed anything except for having to deal with everyone forcing y’all to choose between Ball and Curry moving forward
Having a vastly superior player "wouldn't change anything":picard:

I wonder what makes people so committed to doubling down on poor takes ... its almost trumpian with some

How does that alleviate their biggest problem going forward? Never mind the injuries because neither of them are playing right now. How does LaMelo Ball now make them title contenders? How does Ball off the bench next year make them title contenders? Ball is talented, but it also forces them to have to make a decision they don't really wanna make while not getting the necessary size they need to compete for a title.

Like I said during the draft process, the only way you can argue against Wiseman is if you think he sucks altogether (which is fair to think), but if not Wiseman, you don't have a player that can help Green up front defensively against better teams with size.

There are a lot of high quality big man out there that could be found out there.

all the warriors need is a rim runner who can catch lobs and get a block or two

Wiseman isn’t contributing offensively and isn’t even playing good defense

you really think he’s helping the team more than Melo would?

That's the logic that led to signing Willie Cauley-Stein, Cousins, Spellman, Chriss, drafting Bell, Smailagic and Looney. Long view, the good teams aren't adding filler alongside their other big unless that big is elite, and these contenders have bigs that Golden State can't neutralize (now Wiseman hasn't done a good job of that year, but Golden State's title aspirations went out the window when Klay got hurt).

I'll give you an example of someone who had no clue what he was doing year 1 and by year 2, it clicked: Domantas Sabonis (not saying Sabonis is a comp player-wise), but year 1, Sabonis alongside better players had a 6.9 PER, started most of the games, couldn't shoot, couldn't rebound. Wiseman's WS/48 is .039 (awful). Sabonis was .022 (meaning the team was damn near better off with him not being there at all). Now he got traded. You know what his WS/48 was by year 2 with an extra 4 minutes of PT? .126. If and when Wiseman figures it out, it makes the Warriors hard to beat inside and out which is what they're aiming to do. Unless KD's coming back, the way y'all won isn't gonna be sustainable with Green by himself in the frontcourt.

:ehh: Could be could be. Gotta hope Wiseman develops into a productive player and takes a leap for next season

I don’t see it right now, but maybe KG will get him right

Did you just seriously ask how does having an elite talent "help" a talent depleted team?? :mjlol: the fact that these are the kinds of things you actually feel comfortable saying in a public forum is truly jaw dropping

How does LaMelo Ball now make them title contenders?
"How does having MORE player talent help you become a contender??"

Like I said ... Jaw Dropping :picard:

How does Ball off the bench next year make them title contenders?
Why on earth would Ball ever be coming off the bench when he can shoot off the catch / pass / is 6'7" giving him positional versatility on defense... have you watched any Charlotte basketball this year

but even if he was coming off the bench in this bizarre scenario you're concocting ... how is that a problem... how is having an elite talent as your 6th man an actual basketball issue :gucci:

Ball is talented, but it also forces them to have to make a decision they don't really wanna make
Lets play this bizarre hypothetical out to a logical conclusion .... I want you to imagine how "depressed" the Warriors would be "getting forced to make a decision they didn't want to" while looking at the trade offers they would have on the table right now for Lamelo Ball or Steph Curry in comparison to what interest Wiseman will garner after his rookie campaign... this is some truly strange stuff you're talking about here brother

while not getting the necessary size they need to compete for a title. Like I said during the draft process, the only way you can argue against Wiseman is if you think he sucks altogether (which is fair to think), but if not Wiseman, you don't have a player that can help Green up front defensively against better teams with size.

A.The draft is not a ("fix-all organizational issues with one sip magic elixir") why this seems to be your mentality towards it ..is truly mind boggling and makes you appear as if your grasping for last ditches straws to excuse incompetent behaviors of the warriors F.O.

B. The fact that you haven't learned anything from this Wiseman fiasco and still carry this philosophy of passing up the more talented player because you have an irrational lust for Centers in 2021 is truly remarkable... like I said earlier ... the fact that you actually believed in your brain that a rookie center was going to "solve" any issues for thus team let alone be a focal point in their championship aspirations is even more unhinged ..its that trumpian like inability to pivot off of poor decisions thats going to really impair your ability to suceed brother ... be blessed tho family

The Dubs are gonna have TWO more lotto picks this year in addition to Wiseman. They're not gonna be hurting for talent. Why are you talking about the Warriors as if they're the Rockets?

and I'm not saying Ball would be a bench player this year, but with a healthy Klay, they're not gonna start Klay, LaMelo, and Curry unless you're betting the house on Green and Wiggins as your C/PF being enough and it won't be.

What you're not getting is that they weren't gonna ever wanna entertain the idea of having to pick someone over Curry. If you believe Wiseman (pre-injury) was all of a sudden gonna have a depressed trade value, no way. You have more of a case if Wiseman still sucks a year from now (which is where we're fundamentally disagreeing in regards to Wiseman. It's pretty obvious you think he won't amount to shyt. I disagree, but you're entitled to think that)

and let's just say you do put Ball on the block (cuz they'll never do it to Curry unless he wants that). Who are you even targeting in return? That next star just isn't out there yet.

A.The draft is not a ("fix-all organizational issues with one sip magic elixir") why this seems to be your mentality towards it ..is truly mind boggling and makes you appear as if your grasping for last ditches straws to excuse incompetent behaviors of the warriors F.O.

When you're drafting at #2, you better be hoping whoever you draft (assuming you're keeping them), fixes a lot of your issues for a long time. Otherwise it's a massive waste of an asset.

and if you're worried about Golden State's guards going forward, well Jalen Suggs might be there at #4. Jalen Green might be there at #4. The Dubs essentially get to decide whether they'd rather have Wiseman /Suggs or Green vs. Ball and Mobley. I'd choose the former (nothing against Ball, but I'd rather have Wiseman than Mobley.)

Actually that's not the case at all. If anything my point has always been I'd rather have Wiseman than have to hope Evan Mobley is there to be picked. Again, you think Wiseman sucks. I disagree. Wiseman as a realized product will help them more long term because he's super talented. Once Klay got hurt, you had to give up the idea of title aspirations for this year. Nobody was saving that. Not even healthy LaMelo. Healthy LaMelo is not stopping these bigs on teams better than the Warriors (and before you even say it, not even implying Wiseman would have this year, but they're thinking long term with him)

This is like VERY delusional ... the team has a worse winning percentage than those very Houston Rockets when their all time great HOF PG doesn't play ..yet.. miraculously ... in your brain you read that as "wow, this team is talent rich!" ... like I said ..just baffling takes ... the fact that after watching the discombobulation of Wiseman all year and the general ineffectiveness of 19 year old rookies on winning you're still brazenly touting the teams ability to find more talent with their TWO lotto picks (which isn't even a fact) is again ... mind bending

and I'm not saying Ball would be a bench player this year, but with a healthy Klay, they're not gonna start Klay, LaMelo, and Curry unless you're betting the house on Green and Wiggins as your C/PF being enough and it won't be.
Orrr... you could simply bench the inferior player in Wiggins and use those TWO!!! lotto picks to sure up the remaining holes on your team like a sane rationale individual would ... and instead of blowing their 17 million dollar TPE on Oubre they could have used that on one of your sacred Centers ...I know ... I know

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

Crazy huh..

What you're not getting is that they weren't gonna ever wanna entertain the idea of having to pick someone over Curry. First of all ... whAt YouRe Not GEtting is that the whole "their going to have to pick one or the other if they drafted Ball" was a false dichotomy that you invented to justify an incorrect talent assessment ... its not an actual real thing ... I clearly explained why.. I also explained that I was only entertaining your fictional presumption to play out how nonsensical of a supposed "problem" that would be ... Apparently that went right
and let's just say you do put Ball on the block (cuz they'll never do it to Curry unless he wants that). Who are you even targeting in return? That next star just isn't out there yet.
This is a rather irrelevant question considering

1.we're talking about who would have MORE trade value between he and Wiseman in your hypothetical fictitious scenario becauseeeee .......................

2. THEY WOULDN'T TRADE HIM... but trip this.. I can guarantee you one player LaMelo could easily fetch in a trade this very instant (James Wiseman) cant say the same the other way tho :mjlol:

When you're drafting at #2, you better be hoping whoever you draft (assuming you're keeping them), fixes a lot of your issues for a long time. Otherwise it's a massive waste of an asset.
No... a massive WASTE of an asset is ignoring the more talented / skilled player over someone you perceive to be a better "fit" ... thats called a miscalculation and thats how you end up in these silly situations... if the Warriors could do it all over again I doubt very seriously that they wouldn't 100/100 times take Ball (as we can all clearly read what Steve Kerr is intimating in his latest quotes) ... why you're even pretending anything otherwise is the trumpian instinct that i mentioned earlier... you should shake that brother ... I can promise you its not virtuous at all

wiseman had the kind of meniscus surgery that sidelines you for 4-6 months, meaning he can’t do much (if any) offseason training. So he’ll likely be the same player next season

And Lamelo would’ve been on the bench. He’s not the type of player that Kerr knows how to utilize. Kerr can’t coach which has been the problem all along. Until that changes, it’s over.
