Some of y'all are making this size issue to be more than it actually is. The Warriors have run through every single team that had a size advantage over the last half a decade. No good trying to match the Lakers' size if it's at the sacrifice of what the Warriors do best.
When was the last time the warriors faced a quality big in which they didn’t have a talent advantage? 2015 vs. AD pelicans? 2015 vs. Gasol grizzlies?

dude it really is a problem

it's been a problem every time we played the lakers, including preseason. So thats about 7x we've seen it.

Im glad Chriss has improved but he cannot be our starting center.

and after wiggins we STILL dont have an actual small forward. We are currently at a size and wing disadvantage.

I like Draymond but he's not gonna stop AD. we need more size on this roster.

yeah, and i think AD was still good in that series, we were just a better team than the Pels. Pels didnt have Jrue that series, but at best they lose in 5 instead of a sweep

AD always plays us well in the playoffs it's just that we were always a better team than the Pelicans :yeshrug:

I remember in 2018, we went small in game 4 i think and just killed them. But we are never gonna go small and be that good ever again :mjcry:

Seven times? Preseason?

:usure:

When have the Warriors with Steph/Klay/Draymond played this version of the Lakers, let alone seven times? Nevermind, the fact those meaningless preseason games that Steph and Draymond played limited minutes in were with a completely new support cast, which was littered with fringe NBA talent. You can't take any meaning or value out of those games.

The Rockets actually had control early in their series when the Lakers played their big lineup; it was only when Dwight was phased out of the rotation completely (he didn't see the floor after Game 2) and had his minutes replaced by Morris that they gained the upper hand. D'Antoni even made it a point of emphasis that the Lakers beat them playing small ball.

Granted, yes, the Warriors need another big body at the 5, but the main issues I see with them are depth and experience. They've built their success around interchangeable pieces at all five positions; it's no good trying to change that focus when the functionality of the team is reliant upon being able to spread the floor for Steph and Klay, even more so now with Draymond's shooting regression. It's not like they can add another non-shooting piece into the equation.

Poole showing Warriors he's 'obsessed' with getting better

That factor has driven his commitment in recent months. Numerous people in the organization have noted Poole’s constant visits to the gym, for one-on-one exercises, often with player-development director Chris DeMarco but, also group drills and weightlifting sessions.

“Jordan has been here every day, really, for the last few months,” coach Steve Kerr said Saturday, the final day of formal workouts at a voluntary minicamp. “He’s been the most consistent presence in this building.”

And Looney is only 24. :dwillhuh: Feels like he's been around and banged up forever...I hope he's healthy this season!!

Klay taking it slow, Looney looks ready as Dubs camp wraps

Re Loon:

Looney, without limitations, passed all tests and by all accounts looks ready to provide 20 effective minutes per night – exactly what the Warriors are asking. He said he feels better than at any time since the start of the 2017-18 season.

“Our guys just scrimmaged for an hour, and Loon was getting up and down the floor and shooting the ball well and moving well and then afterward says he feels great,” said Kerr, who considered Looney’s activity a camp highlight. “He had a really consistent week and is doing excellent from a health standpoint.”

Re Paschall:

The Warriors, however, were not delighted with the physique they saw when he arrived at camp after clearing COVID-19 isolation on Sept. 24. Conditioning issues prevented director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini from clearing Paschall to participate in all team activities.

“He took part in all of our drills,” Kerr said Saturday. “But just from a conditioning standpoint, Rick felt like it was best to hold him out.”

Disappointed to read that Paschall came in out of shape. I thought he was a gym rat type of dude but Draymond was out of shape at the same age so I'm sure Myers will get through to him.

Plus being locked in the crib in SF with all those food options is excusable....especially when you can't really get access to workout consistently in a gym.

I'm really happy Poole has been impressing folk in the Dubble tho. I wanted us to draft Kevin Porter Jr. so I'll always compare them to each other because we took Poole instead of him so if he balls out next season I gotta give the scouts and Myers credit.

The odds of drafting Wiseman are fading with each passing day.

Neg rep pending. :pachaha:

Yeah, I was just listening to that pod with Jemele Hill and I agree. Either they're all using misdirection or we're going in another direction. I'd love to get Wiseman but its looking like we're going to continue the center by committee approach. I can't cry over it too much, we ran to 5 straight finals with it, but I would love to get a young springy 7footer.....

Re: Paschall, I like him a lot but would be ok moving him in the right package. He's not an untouchable for me...

I think he's a classic case of putting up #s on a bad team. Nothing he did last season really stood out for me; not in terms of his play, in isolation, nor as a piece that fits Warriors basketball. He's a black hole with poor shot selection, is horrific on defense, and has subpar BBIQ (especially given the fact he spent four years in college - you compare him to someone like Brandon Clarke, and the difference is night and day).
