i ended up watching Burnt.
if you thought any movie was Bradley Coopers directoral debut it would have been that instead of A Star Is Born.

which reminds me, i still need to watch Kitchen Confidential were Cooper is basically playing a fictional Anthony Bourdain.

chappelle was in the movie for probably less than 5 minutes total. you didnt miss much if you were waiting for chappelle. i hear ya about the "forced" thing but if you kept watching you'll see it was for a reason. a lot of things were rushed or forced only because they want to show you her progression and how much she came up, and its tough to make it flow in only 2 hours.

their relationship and her career progressed at an unnatural speed...i was a little unclear on whether it was happening in real time or if they were jumping to different time periods. but again its tough to show a natural progression like that and make it flow in only 2 hours

Nah. I think most people are putting the Babs version last, tbh. The 54 release would likely still be most people's preference. Personally, I like the 37 version more. But I'm partial to stories about Hollywood more than those about musicians.

good stuff man. im kinda the opposite, much more interested in the behind the scenes of the music world. im partial of that 70s era too, love 70s time capsules, and always watch them with imagination on what it was like for my parents back then when they were in their 20s without a care in the world :mjcry:

im going to watch the judy garland one again though. that whole era is undeniable :yeshrug: 50s hollywood is definitely one of the most interesting 'periods'

apparently Elvis was going to play the lead in the 70s version but his manager Colonel Tom was trying to chisel the studio out of way too much money. was never a big Elvis fan, but theres a big possibility the movie would have revived his career for a while (he hadnt done shyt for like 6-7 years prior) and he could have lived longer :ohhh:

I saw Burnt in theaters, due to my foodie aspirations, and it was just awful. What a sappy and arrogant, self absorbed performance and movie.

Is it worth the hype?
I just watched it tonight with minimal expectations and thought it was really good. Just a well made movie with two great leads.

Not to sound :flabbynsick: but they don't make too many flicks like this anymore. No saving the world or super spies, etc. Just a movie about people and life. :manny:

I'm more shocked that Cooper isn't getting more Best Actor love. I thought his performance is head and shoulders about both Malek and Bale.

How does it stack up against March, Mason and Kristofferson?
