First-off white boxers are nothing new in Street Fighter, or fighting games. Joe was featured in the original Street Fighter. What is concerning is that many of the newer boxers that end up in fighting games tend to be white, and blonde. Even if they come from Hong Kong like Shen Woo in the King of Fighters series. SNK, and Capcom have had their share of Black boxers in the KOF, and SF series. If I were to ask most of my friends to name champion boxers in any weight division I’m sure they could come up with many Black, Latino, and Asian-Pacific names. The white champions (especially blondes) would be few, and far between. Why then should fighting games go out of their way to cater to a certain demographic?

To clarify the point on why "Shen Woo" who is from china was designed with blonde hair, There was a trend in asia where delinquents would dye/bleach their hair in order to stand out, it has more to do with "non-conformity" (in a country where black & brown hair is the norm) rather than anything else. :manny: Shen-Woo is a delinquent street brawler so it makes sense in that context.

In regards to an ACTUAL "Professional" boxing character in the KoF series, Heavy-D! fills that role. He has been in the series since KOF '94 :ehh: I believe he is also Puerto Rican, which isn't really common to see in fighting games and in all honesty, I think he might be one of the first Puerto Rican fighting game characters to have existed. :blessed:

The last game he was in was KoF All Stars in 2019 :feedme: Hoping he makes it into KOF XV

Never really used him much due to his play style being more about counters, but yea, KOF XV could always use more counter based grapplers to help mix up the gameplay more when it comes out :lolbron:

the new chick they have been teasing for KOF XV looks dope though :ehh:cant wait for her full reveal

Gotta give it to Harada for not implementing c00nery character designs. See my avi for example

Capcom needs to put a Samoan character or something in that Bih.

This is why nikkas need to migrate to SNK instead of sticking with Capcom and they racist character designs.

WHAT THE fukk IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE?

IS THIS WHAT YOU'RE PASSING OFF AS BLACK PEOPLE?

I'M OFFENDED THAT YOU WOULD STOOP SO LOW..I CAN'T EVEN TAKE IT OFF CAPS BECAUSE THAT WAS SO MUCH CAP. 3RD DUDE HAD A CAP ON BACKWARDS IT WAS SO CAP. 2ND GUY HAD NOTHING BLACK BUT HIS OUTFIT. ADD THE 1ST GUY IT STARTS OFF SHOWING ALL HIS SKINS AND HE'S CLEARLY WHITE IN OVER HALF OF THEM AND THEN WHITE WITH A TAN IN THE REST. FOR YOU TO ACT LIKE THIS IS A NON RACIST DEPICTION OF BLACK PEOPLE IS LIKE SAYING IT'S GOOD ENOUGH :stop: it's not...

i mean, one of the handful of black snk characters is lucky glauber. and theres the ambiguously brown duck king. and there hasnt been a new black character on the snk side in years, with there being actual entries with no black characters. not saying capcom doesnt have issues, but snk aint the one

then you have the three or so characters I posted about previously + the other kof characters mentioned earlier in the thread :jbhmm:

compared to Capcoms small collection of black characters in the street fighter series:trash:

:jbhmm: I dont know about Duck King, hes the odd one out. His art switches from straight up white to tanned/brown depending on the person drawing it.

as for new black characters, there were a few ambiguously brown brazilian characters added in King Of Fighters XIV :manny: Afro-Brazilians are pretty common in brazil

and the two women seen in the KOF XV story trailer :patrice:

ambiguously brown is the current name of the game. crimson viper and menat fill that role on the c- side

i wouldnt put stock in both of those women being black at the end of the day, especially when characters like kusanagi exist
